Vacation Rental Description
This contemporary detached villa is on one level with two wings each containing two bedrooms and bathroom. The 30m lounge, with a 5m ceiling, has large patio doors which open onto the garden and pool, a wood-burning stove, TV with English channels (including CBBC!), DVD and CD player. The stainless steel fitted kitchen is open-plan with a breakfast bar and is fully equipped, including both washing machine and dishwasher. All rooms are sunny and bright with wooden floors and large windows and shutters, all looking onto the south-facing garden. The enclosed garden, which gets the sun all day long, has been planted with shrubs and trees and has sunloungers and a barbecue. There are Roman steps leading down from the shaded terrace directly to the 8.5 m x 4 private pool which is bordered with lavender. The shaded patio area has a wooden table and chairs for eating outdoors. There is parking on the drive protected by iron gates. There are double beds in the master bedrooms, and large bunks and a cot in the other rooms. The house sleeps eight to ten plus cot. Both change of bed linen and towels, cleaning services, as well as a high chair, are provided on request. As the house is all on one level and has a ramp leading from the drive, it would suit those who are disabled or who have difficulties with stairs.
Situated between Lagrasse and Narbonne and 15 minutes south of the A61 motorway, the house is a 30 minute drive from superb sandy Mediterranean beaches (Gruissan, Narbonne - both with an array of water sports and Leucate with its vast beach, walks along the cliffs and its lighthouse and grottoes). Moreover, it is easily accessible to local Cathar castles with the Cathar trail being a particularly popular route with cyclists and ramblers and bird watchers. The village, tucked away in the Corbieres hills, is a perfect holiday retreat. The bread van visits twice daily in the morning with the grocery van coming three times a week. The local Corbieres wine is available from nearby Domaines as well as farm produce. In the neighbouring village is a Michelin-starred restaurant. Otherwise, a five minute drive to nearest shops, cafes, bars, post office, bank, pharmacy, doctor's surgery or 15 minutes to Lezignan for excellent fishmongers and greengrocers and large supermarkets. Local places of interest include the medieval village of Lagrasse with its cobbled streets, restaurants, artisans, Dominican abbey, and summer festivals; also the abbey at Fontfroide with its rose gardens, or the Cathar chateaux at Peyrepertuse and Queribus with views all over the Pyrenees. Carcassonne with its fairy-tale castle and walled 'cite' is a must and is 40 minutes' drive; Beziers and Perpignan are under an hour away as are the Pyrenees mountains and the Spanish border. Tennis, fishing and horse riding are available locally in neighbouring villages, Ferrals and Fabrezan. Ski resorts, for winter lets, are an hour and a half's drive away.

House is all on one level so would suit those with mobility problems or who have difficulties with stairs. Access from street via ramp and patio doors open up both sides, so suitable for wheelchair access. There are two wings to the house each with private bathroom making it ideal for two families holidaying together. Private 8.5m x 4m pool,with security cover, 1.6m deep with Roman stairs leading down into water. Walled private garden planted with mature shrubs and fruit trees - south-facing aspect - gets sun all day. There is a covered terrace with wooden table and chairs for outdoor dining. Portable barbecue and sun loungers are provided. Private parking on drive for 2 cars. Entry via iron gates. Leafy, peaceful location.

All watersports activities are available on the superb beach at Gruissan 20 miles away.Biking and hiking is on the doorstep.A 40 min drive to grottoes,lighthouse and fish restaurants at Leucate beach. Lake swimming with sandy beach and lifeguard 35 min away at Lac de La Cavayere, Carcassonne along with high rope activities over lake.
Tennis, fishing and horse riding are 10 minutes away. Local places of interest include the medieval village of Lagrasse with its cobbled streets, restaurants and artisans' boutiques and Dominican abbey, and the medieval Cathar castles at Peyrepertuse & Queribus with fantastic views over the Pyrenees. Also local is the abbey at Fontfroide as well as the charming villages of Homps and Bize Minervois and Le Somail with cafes and canal walks.Carcassonne is a must with its walled 'cite'. Beziers, Carcassonne & Perpignan are all under 45 minutes, with the Pyrenees mountains and Spanish border not far away.
