The house
2 bedroom village house situated in the small village of Camplong, in the popular wine producing area of the Corbieres. The village is situated between medival town of Carcassonne with its famous castle and the Mediterranian coast, at the foot of Montagne d'Alaric, only 50 km to the Mediterranean beaches. It's a small friendly village with a restaurant, outdoor swimming pool, theatre and holiday village on the outskirts. Ideal for wine lovers, or for a holiday in an unspoiled rural setting
House is situated in the heart of the village of Camplong close to the spring water fountain with parking area, the village itself being surrounded by vinyards,the swimming pool is open throughout july and august,this is situated close to the Authentis holiday area, as is the tennis court, there is a village website at www.camplong.com which gives more detail about village life, including summer events and features on the local wine production.
Nearby are the Villages of Fabrezan and Lagrasse, both with cafes and shops, about 10kms is the town of Lezignan with a wide variety of shops cafes and supermarkets,with plenty of bakeries, there is a busy market on wednesdays which is very good for fresh produce.
Places to visit slightly further afield are, Carcassonne with its medievil Cite, this is one of the most popular tourist spots in the whole of France, well worth a days visit, also the town centre which has many cafes and shops set around the main town square. About 20 mins by motorway is the town of Narbonne set on the Canal du Robin, this is a wonderful place to spend some time, there is a indoor market hall selling all kinds of fresh foodstuffs, there is also a modern retail park with many varied shops. From Narbonne you can take the road to the beach resorts of Narbonne-plage and Gruisan, both with sandy beaches and holiday shops, Narbonne-plage has a water park.
The wine in the local area is of a very good quality, plus there are many different vinyards to choose from, most of wich will gladly let you sample before you buy, the Corbiers bieng an important wine producing area.
There are many ways to travel to this area of France,
By air there are airports at Carcassonne, Perpignan, Toulouse and Montpellier. These airports are served by low cost airlines as in Ryanair & Easyjet and in some cases by the bigger airlines such as British Airways & Air France. There is even the option of flying to one of the nearby Spanish airports such as Gerona or Barcelona.
The village is very close to the motorway with its excellent links to the rest of France, if driving it gives you the oppertunity to maybe stop off at various sites along the way and get to see more of what France has to offer.
