Welcome to Villa Tamaris, a beautiful 2 bedroomed Villa built in the traditional style of the Languedoc and located in the heart of the Corbieres Hills in Durban in the South of France. Complete with it's own private pool and sun terrace,Villa Tamaris is the ideal location for that leisurely holiday in this yet to be discovered region of Southern France.
Equipped to the highest standards Villa Tamaris is only a short drive from the Airports of Carcassonne,Toulouse, Perpignan and Girona(in northern Spain).
Villa Tamaris has commanding panoramic views over the beautiful Corbieres Hills that stretch from the Mediterranean to the Spanish border, and are steeped in local history.The area enjoys over 300 days of sunshine annually with long hot summers and mild winters.
Magnificent Mediterranean beaches are but a short drive away and for those who wish to immerse themselves in local history and culture,the Languedoc Corbire's region has a wealth of Castles,Ancient Monasteries,Medieval Cities and stunning scenery awaiting your arrival.
This two bedroomed Villa comprises:
Entrance hall;Open plan living area, kitchen, dining area, utility room;
Twin bedroom with excellent wardrobe space and en-suite.
The Kitchen is fully equipped with, Electric Hob and Oven, Fridge Freezer, Dishwasher, Microwave and many other modern conveniences.The Utility room is equipped with a washing machine, iron & ironing board
The Living room is comfortably appointed and is complete with Satellite T.V.Internet,DVD and mini Hi-Fi. Double French Sliding Doors open out onto a teak deck surrounding the private swimming pool and outdoor shower. A Bar-B-Q and eating area are adjacent to the private pool.
Upstairs is the Master Bedroom. This beautifully appointed double bedroom, has substantial wardrobe space and fantastic views across the hills. A seperate bathroom with shower services this bedroom.
Villa Tamaris is a few minutes walk from the lovely village of Durban with a Supermarket, Boulangerie, Bank, Pharmacy, Restaurent, Bar and Cave co-operative. The local wines are a must to try and are of exceptional quality and value.
On this self catering holiday in Villa Tamaris, visitors can immerse themselves in the ancient history of the area. Medieval castles like Ch Queribus and Ch Peyreprteuse sit high on mountaineous outcrops commanding the area around them. The beautiful walled city of Carcassonne is a must to visit as are the monasteries at Lagrasse and Fontfroide. All this area is Cathar country and historians will find a wealth of history to savour and enjoy.
Nearby Narbonne and Beziers have a stunning array of shops and services with a magnificent fresh food market and Cathederal in Narbonne.Just 15-20 minutes away is the lovely town of Sigean with it's highly rated African Reserve a must visit for all those nature lovers.
The nearest Beach Resorts of Le Franqui and Leucate are a mere 20-30 minutes by car with beaches that stretch for miles and safe swimming in the clear Meditteranean waters. Wind surfing and other maritime pursuits are also available. You will also find lovely restaurants along the promenades with fantastic Sea Food dishes.
Horse Riding, Golf, Tennis and Sailing are all within easy reach of Villa Tamaris and the local hills are criss-crossed with delightful paths for those that like to go hill walking.
Visible from the beaches of Leucate are the magnificent Pyrenees mountains. Villa Tamaris is an ideal base for Skiing and Winter Sports enthusiasts, who wish to travel to the numerous Pyrenees Skiing resorts and the famous Principality of Andorra
Eating out around Villa Tamaris is a gastronomique delight, with restaurants varying from One Star Michelin in Fontjoncouse to local restaurants providing exceptional cuisine at reasonable prices.
The Languedoc is fast becoming an important wine region and some of the local Chateau and Caves/Co-op's offer exceptional quality wines at realistic and affordable prices.

Villa Tamaris is equipped to the highest standards, with a beautiful Sun deck and Patio with Sun Loungers A Bar-B-Q is supplied for your use and outside eating area with Sun Umbrella. The side Garden with its Rosemary and Lavender makes for an ideal shady spot on a hot day to read or relax. Stunning views of the surrounding Corbiere's Hills can be had from the entire Villa and the view of the medieval Castle in Durban which is lit at night is spectacular.
Activities
Durban Village has a municipal swimming pool and public tennis courts which can be booked in advance.
There is a Golf club near Carcassonne and tee times can be booked in advance.
Para surfing, Windsurfing and other water spoert are available near Leucate beach.
Hill walking and hiking can be undertaken most anywhere in the area with walks to suit all.
The Safari Park and Zoo at Sigean is a must visit for families and generally is a great day out.
There are a large number of shops and markets in and around Narbonne with a large market day in Narbonne on a Thursday.
Skiing is available in the winter months in Andorra which is a 1 hour drive from Villa Tamaris.

The Villa is aproximately 40 minutes from the cities of Carcassone and Narbonne and 20 minutes from Leucate with its spectacular beaches. Durban village is 5 minutes walk away and has all the amenities for a self catering holiday. Paradise in the South of France
Villa Tamaris is our Paradise in the South of France. It is nestled in the middle of the Corbiers hills where peace and tranquility abound. Not far away are the bustling cities of Narbonne and Carcassonne with their beautiful Castles, Cathederal open markets, shops and cafe's. When we are here we love to browse the markets and drink in the fantastic atmosphere.
The Mediterranean is just a short drive away and boasts some of the finest beaches and water sports in the area. We find the beaches very safe and they are so big that you can have your own space and not be bothered by anyone else.
Villa Tamaris with its own private pool is ideal for lounging around and relaxing and the pool is a firm favourite with all our renters, especially the children.
In the village of Durban situated five minutes from the Villa, ther is a Bar/ Restaurent/ Hotel called l'Amandier, run by Pierre and h'Erve. The food is very local but exquisite and with the large portions served you will always leave feeling rather full.
If you want to go upmarket the One Star Michelin restaurent in Fontjoncous 15 minutes by car is a must. The food, Service and ambience are exquisite and worth the visit. There are other lovely restaurents in the area and all are worth exploring.
We love what Villa Tamaris can offer us and our guests, the opportunity to relax and unwind, enjoy the local produce and wines, visit the surrounding areas and their fabulous sights and savour for a little while the French Joie de Vivre. We hope that you will enjoy it too.
