Vacation Rental Description
Village house in Aude, Languedoc-Roussillon, France. The house is approx. 200 years old and lies in the heart of the quiet village of Villedubert, set among vineyards and sunflowers. The property is well appointed, combining traditional features with modern comforts (D/G, C/H). It offers 4 bedrooms (3 doubles and 1 twin), a well- equipped kitchen/diner, and a spacious lounge with log burning fire that leads onto a sunny terrace with BBQ. There is a newly refurbished bathroom with large shower as well as a separate downstairs shower room. Each bedroom has an electric fan. In addition to the terrace at the front, there is also a private garden to the rear. A baby/toddler package (travel cot+ bedlinen, reclining pushchair, highchair, stairgate, mini table& chairs, melamine crockery) is available for £25 per stay. There is a daily bread delivery service to the village.
On the terrace at the front of the house the Rose of Judea tree provides beautiful deep pink blossoms in the spring and much appreciated shade in the summer, perfect for putting your feet up and losing yourself in a book. There is a good supply of herbs in the garden for those wanting to cook some traditional French food ....as well as eating it! There is a private rear walled garden with plunge pool & vine-clad pergola. There is also a smaller paddling pool for babies & toddlers. Garden furniture is provided - sunloungers, table with parasol & folding chairs. For the more energetic guests there is outdoor table tennis. There are splendid views of the Cite of Carcassonne and the Pyrenées beyond, from the back garden. A garage suitable for a medium size car is available.
The village of Villedubert is set on the river Aude plain which offers easy walking and cycling. It is in the centre of one of the world s largest wine growing regions and its associated gastronomic delights! On either side of the plain are the hills of the Montagnes Noires and the Corbieres, with the Pyrenées beyond, offering limitless sporting and leisure facilities (summer and winter). The region is steeped in Cathar history, La Cité at Carcassonne being one of its finest examples. Both La Cité and the Canal du Midi (500 metres from the house) are World Heritage sites. The Mediterranean coast is easily accessible (Narbonne). In addition, there is a local leisure lake Lac de la Cavayère - known locally as Carcassonne Plage, which offers swimming, sunbathing & some water sports. There is a golf course at Auriac, close to Carcassonne. There is a daily rate and the course is open to non-members all year round. The Pyrenées offer a variety of ski stations and resorts which are accessible from the house.
Ryanair offers low-cost flights from many cities to Carcassonne Airport (about 15 minutes from the house). Toulouse Airport is about a 1 hour drive away. When accessing Villedubert by the A61, exit at junction 24 (Trebes).
