Our house, for four/five persons, is situated in the medieval city (La Cite), just under the towering walls of the Cité Médiévale (a World Heritage site). We have been awarded 3 Keys Classification by Clévacances Aude. This indicates” tres bon confort” and a “Label de qualité”.  
 
It is a typical French town house in a street of terraced houses, 15 minutes from Carcassonne Airport. There are cafes, restaurants and shops nearby. The Bastide Saint Louis (later town) is only 12 minutes walk over the old bridge where there are many restaurants, shops and a market 3 times a week. There is also free local transport between La Cité and the Bastide St Louis during the main tourist season.  
 
The house has tiled floors throughout and is furnished in French style. Electric convector heaters provide warmth in the cooler months. Parking is available ‘on street’ outside of the house.  
 
Living Room The cosy, well lit living room has two settees, a nest of tables, a buffet contains drinking glasses, books and games, a cupboard, on which stands the DVD player and viewer, containing local and house information and DVDs. CDs are in a tower storage. 
 
Kitchen/Dining room  
The kitchen/dining room is fully fitted with: table and chairs, gas oven, 4 ring hob, microwave, coffee machine, electric kettle, fridge/freezer, toaster, cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery. 
 
Shower Room / W.C. with wash hand basin and a washing machine, is on the ground floor and is accessed from the staircase area 
 
Bedrooms 
The polished wooden staircase leads to two double bedrooms. The main bedroom overlooks the street and the room at the rear looks out onto the walls of the medieval city. 
Bedroom 1 has a double bed and a day bed. There is a wardrobe, bedside cupboards, draws and cupboards and it overlooks rue Trivalle. 
Bedroom 2 has a double bed with wardrobe bedside cupboards and looks out onto the walls of la cité. 
 
Bathroom: There is a large shower cubicle, a vanity unit with wash hand basin, cupboards and drawers, towel rails (one heated), a W.C. a small unit of cupboards and a washing machine, iron and ironing board. 
 
Courtyard 
From the dining room/kitchen you have access to a large private courtyard which is filled with small trees and plants, an outdoor grill, a sun canopy, sun loungers and table and chairs so that you can enjoy the ambience of outdoor dining “al fresco“.  
 
Linen is provided and the beds will be made up ready for you. Towels are provided for the shower room and tea towels and oven gloves are provided for the kitchen. Hair drier provided. Beach towels are not provided. 
 
CARCASSONNE 
Located at the heart of the Toulouse-Montpellier-Barcelone triangle, at the crossroads of two major traffic roads dating back to the most ancient times, from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean, from the Cévennes to the Pyrénées mountain range where the Aude has its source, Carcassonne blooms in the plains of the lower valley, inviting you to walk in and out of its streets. Discover its history, its local cuisine, its wines, or simply enjoy the scenery.  
 
The Suburb Trivalle 
The only pathway leading from the Bastide Saint-Louis to the la Cité is the winding road, carved in stone improved by man, with more than 2000 years of history: “LA RUE TRIVALLE”. Since it was constructed, this artery has seen many changes. Its most beautiful houses date from the 15th and 16th centuries. Nestling in the heart of courtyards and gardens, are 18th century charterhouses.  
 
You can take a leisurely stroll along the streets and be charmed by the buildings and the people you'll meet along the way; or you can be accompanied by the interpretive guides from the Tourist Office, who are intent on restoring the memory of their city.

This area of France provides a multitude of activities and places to visit. There are many places to visit in the area, apart from Carcassonne which is a “must”, there are the historic towns of Toulouse, Beziers, Castelnaudry, Pezanas(for antiques), Montpellier, Perpignan, and Narbonne plus the many medieval and hill top villages. The vineyards of Minervois and Corbierres, fruit and many local festivals are waiting for you. In the winter, there is skiing in the Ariege and Pyrenees with the nearest ski resort about 1½ hours drive. Walking and climbing in the Montagne Noir (30 minutes away), winter and summer, is an alternative. For those who like the sun, sand and sea, there are many resorts near Narbonne about a 1 hour drive away. There you can also enjoy fish and shell fish meals at very reasonable prices.

Mid-week bookings will be considered as will short term lets. The minimum charge is £260 for 3 nights or less. Payments is by bank transfer into our bank account. No credit cards and no cheques. Clients must take out holiday insurance for their own protection.
