Vacation Rental Description
Stay in part of a recently renovated fermette within the village of Badens. Sample the flavours of the area with locally made patisseries and locally produced wine, all while sitting in the walled patio area surrounded by fragrant flowers and herbs and overlooking vinyards. This ground floor gite is ideal for families with young children or those with mobility problems.
The property is situated within a village surrounded by vineyards, the village has a boulangerie, bar, post office, hairdresser, butchers and garage. Within the village there are also many wine producers which offer tasting of locally produced wine. For the younger members of the party there is a good play area a few minutes walk from the gite, which has two excellent climbing areas, one for younger children as well as one for older children.
Using Badens as your base it is possible to spend many days sampling the culinary delights of the area, learning about the Cathar history by visiting legendary fortresses and castles or enjoying galleries and museums. Alternatively, a boat trip on the canal du Midi or a swim in the Lac de la Cavayere will help you to relax.
The town of Trebes (4km) with its abundance of flowers has much to offer visitors with many restaurants, supermarkets and shops including chemist, butchers, banks, English bookshop and a Toursit Information Office. Within Trebes there are also tennis courts and a covered swimming pool. It is also possible to take a trip along the Canal du Midi (included in the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1996) which is extremely relaxing.
A trip to the area would not be complete without a visit to Carcassonne (both Le Cite and lower town) to learn about the local history and marvel at the impressive architecture and buildings. The breathtaking firework display which takes place on the 14th July is not to be missed and can be seen for miles around.
If walking around historic towns or buildings is not to your liking, you could visit the Ostich Park, Les Aigles de la Cite (with its display of falconary) or the Australian Park to name just a few local attractions close to Badens/Carcassonne.

Further details indoors:The front door opens into an open plan living area incorporating lounge and dining area as well as fully fitted kitchen. While the property does not have a bath, the shower is very large and can easily accommodate a baby bath which can be used for toddlers who are reluctant to shower.
Baby equipment available for use during your stay including baby bath, cot, crib, cold water sterilizing unit and highchair.
Extensive range of books, DVD's and games are available, plus a number of baby and toddler games and toys.
Further details outdoors:The patio area is completely enclosed, access is via a gate at the front of the property,stone seating is available nestled into the fragrant lavender, thyme and rosemary garden. A table and four chairs enable you to enjoy al fresco eatingor simply relaxing with a drink while listening to the cicadas.

A visit to the Aude provides an apporunity to explore many historical sites, enjoy the scenery and sample a little piece of France. The Cistercian abbey of Fontfroids, the VIII century abbey at St Hilaire, Narbonne and Limoux are all worth investigating and exploring, they are situated within driving distance of the gite.
For those of you who enjoy being energetic there are opportunities to enjoy canoeing down the Aude, climbing and rafting in the region. There are also 2000kms of well maintained amd marked pathways crossing the Aude which can be investigated either on foot or by bike.
