Vacation Rental Description
This restored farmhouse is situated in the Pays Cathares. It is surrounded by fields of sunflowers and wheat but is within easy reach of Castelnaudary, home of the cassoulet and Revel with its Saturday market and the nearby Lake of St Ferréol. Carcassone with its medieval castle is only a 45 minute drive. From here one can also take a day trip to the beaches of Mediteranean or spend a day hiking in the Pyrénées. This farmhouse with gardens which extend to 1.5 acres can accommodate 2-14 people, ideal for one or more families or a group of friends. Downstairs there are 3 spacious reception rooms, one with a bar area and drinks fridge, one with a dining room with a table which easily seats 12 people, the third a family room with TV, satellite and DVD. There is an additional room which can be used as a reading room, play room, or writing/drawing room with Wi-Fi. The kitchen is fully equipped with a range cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine and is equipped with crockery, cutlery, glasses and cooking pans and dishes. A cot and high chair is available if needed. Upstairs there are 6 bedrooms, one of which has a mezzanine, and one of which has an en suite bathroom. There are two further bathrooms with an extra W.C. upstairs and downstairs.
The 9m x 4.6m swimming pool is adjacent to the house. There are outdoor tables and chairs and sunbeds by the pool. There is a patio area at the front of the house south facing with tables and chairs and a pergola for shade. There is another terrace area at the rear of the property also equipped with table and chairs where one can enjoy lunch in the shade out of the heat of the midday sun. The farmhouse enjoys views of the Pyrenees and views of surrounding fields. For entertainment the farmhouse is equipped with two barbeque's, table tennis, table football, trampoline, darts, a football goal and footballs, swing and play ladder, outdoor bowls (boules/pétanque), bicycles and badminton net and racquets. For the swimming pool there are pool games, water beds and floating 'animals'. The swimming pool has roman steps which makes it easy for small children to enter the water easily. With all this, you can create your own Olympics. Owners are not on site.

A few examples of sights to visit in the area are the Black Mountains offering walks and small villages like Sorèze with its history or Durfort with its glass and copper craft. There is fishing, boating and swimming in the lake of St Ferréol. The walled city of Carcassonne with its medieval castle now a UNESCO heritage sight. Visitors can take a boat ride on the Canal du Midi or simply go on a bike ride or walk alongside the canal. In the area there are tennis courts, riding stables, potteries and wine tasting and in the summer local villages have night markets. A little further afield there is rafting, adventure parks, the Pyrénées, the Meditérannean and the wine growing areas of the Corbières and Minervois. Toulouse, which sits on the River Garonne, is a 45 minute drive with its architecture, museums and jazz music festivals.
