Vacation Rental Description
Set in the heart of the ancient Trivalle quarter "La Trivala" beneath the walls of Carcassonne’s medieval citadel, this charming little stone house originally constructed in 1820 opens onto the old village square. Now converted to a pedestrian only public space this shady square with trees and a fountain is rarely discovered by visitors. Sensitively restored to preserve the character of local construction methods the house accommodates 3/5 persons in a generous 66m2. With exposed beams and the original floor tiling characteristic of the area it presents a cosy and comforting interior for all seasons.On entering the ground floor there is a small entry hall and a WC with wash hand basin.
The main living/dining area is equipped with a generous and comfortable double sofa bed, and a dining table and chairs. The fitted kitchen has an oven, hob, extractor, fridge/freezer, and microwave, and is supplied with dishcloths, washing up liquid, tea towels, and cleaning materials so that you need not purchase them.
The snug is the coolest place in summer and the warmest in winter. With a comfy sofa, a hi-fi system, and a selection of music CD's, novels and local history books, it's a good place to put your feet up and relax.
Upstairs you will find a modern fitted bathroom with wash basin, bath with a shower over, heated towel rail, and a separate WC. We provide towels for the bathroom, and recognising that baggage limits are now very restrictive, we also provide some towels, beach mats, and a cool box that you are welcome to borrow for picnics and trips to the beach.
The light and spacious bedroom is equipped with one double bed and one single bed. Ample storage is provided in the wardrobe and chest of drawers. The room is equipped with a full length mirror and, to save you transporting one, a hairdryer is available to borrow on request.
Tucked into a private corner of the square prettily furnished with potted trees and plants, you can take your ease and enjoy sunshine or shade in relative privacy. "Pavement culture" and the outdoor lifestyle rules in this mediterranean climate and it is quite in order to take garden table and chairs outside to enjoy your aperitif and even your meal, where the occasional passer by will wish you "Bon appetit!".

Carcassonne, a compelling destination in its own right, is located in the heart of a spectacular and varied landscape providing a huge variety of extreme sports, nature and wildlife experiences, more historic monuments than you can shake a stick at, mountains, forests, lakes, and of course the mediterranean coastal resorts. All are reachable within a one hour drive.
But there is no need to hire a car to enjoy the two cities of Carcassonne. A short stroll puts you in reach of La Cité - the medieval fortified citadel of Carcassonne, the beautiful River Aude with it's landscaped parks, gardens and playgrounds for the children, the Bastide St Louis with its restaurants, bars, shopping, markets, and the very many facilities, attractions, and entertainments the City of Carcassonne has to offer.

- Travel Info: Les Troubadours is situated 400m from the entrance to the medieval citadel "La Cite de Carcassonne" in the Trivalle quartier beneath the ramparts. A short walk, crossing the river via the Pont Vieux brings you to the Bastide St Louis and the town centre. Carcassonne is well served by road, rail and air. Airports close by are Carcassonne, Beziers, Perpignan, Montpellier, Toulouse. Girona and Marseille are also feasible.

Short breaks welcome, start on any day (Minimum value 3 nights). Prices are calculated in Euro and are based on two adults sharing with up to 3 children (we reserve the right to charge a supplement of 10 Euro per night per additional adult). The price includes all bedlinen, towels, kitchen disposables, cleaning materials, tourist tax (@ 0,70 Euro pppn), and electricity to reasonable levels of consumption. We accept payment in Euro, or Sterling, via International Transfer, or Paypal. We do not charge extra for cleaning but ask you to leave the house in a clean and tidy state. A deposit of 25% of the total cost of hire is required to secure your booking. The Balance to be paid not less than 8 weeks before the start date of your holiday. A security deposit of 200 Euro/£200 is required on arrival. Please note we do not accept cheques or credit cards for security deposit purposes.

Friendly welcome from resident english speaking owner.
I moved to Carcassonne in september 2003 on a 3 year sabbatical with my husband and two children. We planned to carry out a renovation project while giving our kids a chance to learn a second language. The project was completed in 2006 but we never left! Les Troubadours is the fruit of our labours. We offer a warm and friendly welcome in a traditional setting where you can feel at home within the community.
