Cathar Cottage is situated in the heart of a Cathar Country village. It is a 2 bedroom cottage that has been beautifully restored keeping the original stone walls and oak beams whilst adding the nesseccary comforts for your holiday. The village is surrounded by vineyards and produces it's own superb Cabardes wine! Long out of season rentals available.
You walk straight into a taste of the 13th Century when staying in Cathar Cottage. The ground floor has a large kitchen, dining room that has beautifully built stone walls and large oak beams. Through the remains of an arch there is a spacious shower room and seperate toilet.
Up the old stairs to the lounge, with oak beams and through into the large, bright double bedroom. From the lounge you go out into a small, private terrace with table, chairs and bbq. There is a 2nd toilet on this floor. Behind a large very old oak door you will venture up the stairs (steep but safe) to a beautiful 2nd bedroom that has twin beds.
The cottage is very light and spacious and full of history. It's in the heart of this ancient, peaceful Cathar village which is surrounded by vineyards, country side and beautiful views. The village itself has a 13th Century Chateau and Church. There is a wonderful restaurant in the village that also produces it's own wine. You can enjoy a wine tasting and learn which grapes they use, how they're harvested etc. or you can stay and treat yourselves to a lovely meal.
You are only minutes from the City of Carcassonne, a World Heritage Site. A real joy to wonder around and get lost in it's many little cobbled streets. There is the famous Canal du Midi, World Heritage Site, where you can take a boat trip and see the wild life. This whole area is full of medieval villages waiting to be explored. The miles of sandy beaches at Narbonne are within an hours drive.
On the otherside of Carcassonne you will find the Lac de la Cavayere. There are 3 beaches, pedalos, crazy golf, a snack bar/ice-creams. You can walk around the lake and enjoy watching the butterflies, frogs, fish, lizards etc. During the winter you can be on the slopes of the Pyrennees within 2 hours enjoying wonderful snow without millions of people. If you want to relax and take in the local delicacies or speed down the rapids, go horse riding, cycling, swimming etc. this area has it all.
