Just a few minutes from the Magical Medieval City of Carcassone you'll find this historic holiday cottage.

Dating back over 700 years it once formed part of an ancient Cathar abbey and Bishops palace. Left in ruins by the Inquisition during the 13th century it has been carefully restored to retain as much of the original charm as possible. There is a lovely terrace area with bbq where you can enjoy drinking the local wine whilst relaxing after your days adventures. It is a great place for your holiday!

The cottage has a large kitchen/dining area with original vaulted ceiling. This leads into a spacious & light filled lounge with comfy 3 piece suite, books & games. Also on the ground floor is a beautiful airy shower room with another vaulted ceiling. On the 1st floor there are 2 twin bedrooms & a double.

The village of Villalier where this pretty holiday cottage is situated is full of Southern French atmosphere. A few steps from your door across the sleepy square will take you to Monique's shop for your supplies of local cheeses, meats etc. A baker, butcher, bar & wine producers are all just around the corner. 2 restaurants are within walking distance. The cottage backs onto the old Abbey grounds where you can fish in the mill stream or the river.

Walk out of the village & you find yourself in the famous vines of the Minervois region, with its undulating landscape & ruined watch towers. The area is great for walkers, cyclists, Canal boat fans or anyone who enjoys a holiday in the sun, relaxing & soaking up the atmosphere. Two World Heritage Sites are close by, The Canal Du Midi - a beautiful place to fish, walk or sit at a quayside restaurant or bar & watch the canal boats glide past.
