Vacation Rental Description
This romantic apartment is in the heart of Carcassonne's La Bastide, the old town. Only 10 minutes by bus from the airport and 5 minutes walk from the railway station you could not ask for a more perfect and convenient location in Carcassonne. Not only is the apartment in a quiet, privately owned town house dating from 1713 but it is on the top floor with a wonderful view across the Market Square of Place Carnot, Carcassonne's most famous market and the location for the weekend market and winter fairs. It also has use of a large roof terrace which in the summer gives unrivaled views of La Cite, the medieval castle and for the magnificent and world famous fireworks of 14th July. It is perfect for an alfresco breakfast or sunning yourself during the day or simply relaxing in the evening with a glass of chilled Champagne as the sun sets over the mountains in the distance. The flat has been completely restored in 2008 and now is a delightfully relaxing and romantic place to stay.
Notes: The flat is located on the third floor of an elegant and classic 18th century period building in the centre of Carcassonne La Bastide, just by Place Carnot, the main town square. It is a quiet location in a private building. The sitting room / dinning room and kitchen face South East and are very sunny, while the large bedroom is at the back of the apartment and is quiet and cool in the summer and snug and warm in the winter. As the apartment is on the third floor and has access to a roof terrace it is not suited for the elderly or infirm nor those with very small children. The sitting room has a large sofa which is also a sofa bed, two arm chairs and a dinning room table with four chairs. The floor is traditional terracotta tiles with carpets. There is flat screen TV and DVD player and a small library of DVDs and English books. The large roof terrace is accessible by an outside staircase. It has commanding views over Carcassonne and the Castle and towards the Pyrenees Mountains.
