Vacation Rental Description
The garden apartment is in our very old stone barn, which is split level, that is to say the back part of the barn is built half into a hill. The garden apartment is reached via a private stair case but in view of the barn being split level, there is a patio area to the rear of the apartment,leading out to the rear garden area - reached via patio doors leading from the lounge area.
On entering the apartment from the stairs, there is a lobby area, off of which are two bedrooms, one being furnished with a double bed and the other with two singles. There is also a shower room off of the lobby. Two steps lead from the lobby to glass doors that open into the main room. This has a corner kitchen. A large dining table is placed next to large windows giving views of the hamlet and surrounding fields. Opposite the corner kitchen and dining area is the lounge area, with comfortable furniture.
The general feel of the apartment is light, airy and clean. There are some exposed stone walls and plenty of wood and exposed original beams. The barn is surrounded by fields and at the rear of the barn (where the apartment patio area is) there are cows in the back fields that rise up to trees.
We live in part of the bottom area of the barn and are here if needed, but otherwise you are totally private. There is parking outside the barn entrance, on our gravel drive. We have four dogs and four cats - all rescued animals and three hens.

All bedding is supplied (bottom sheet, quilts with covers etc.) All towels are supplied as are tea-towels for the kitchen. There is a selection of books and DVD's.
Activities
There are many natural beauty spots in the area to explore. Especially the river souces, visits to the caves, the waterfalls and the salt mine. Nearby Salins les Bains is a Spa town, so it is possible to spoil yourself with a beauty treatment or just have a dip in their special swimming pool with a jaccuzi.

- Travel Info: We are located in a small rural hamlet, half way up a hill. The area is made up of small dairy farmers who make the local delicious Franche-Comté cheese. We are surrounded by beautiful views with green rolling hills and meadowed valleys. We are about 7km from the small Spa town, Salins les Bains. We are in the department of The Jura, which is 49% forest land.

Jura is a beautiful region, green rolling hills and meadowed valleys and with Franche-Comté being made up of 49% forest, there are plenty of forests. Our area is made up of mainly small dairy farmers, with the milk going to make the delicious Franche-Comté cheese. The area abounds in natural beauty spots - from the river sources, waterfalls and deep mysterious caves, there is something for everyone.
The old listed nearby town of Salins les Bains is a Spa town and the salt from the old salt mine is still used today in the Spa. The town is set in a beautiful valley (known as nature valley) and is guarded on both sides by the two old forts high on the hillsides.
Switzerland is an easy drive away, but in fact, whichever way you drive the scenery is breath taking and the bells of the brown and white cows will stay with you long after you have left this magical region.
