Owner Location Comment
This lovely unspoilt area of France is not well known and gives a real insight into the life of rural France. Situated in the centre of a small village facing the church and presbytery, the grounds of La Ferme des Tourterelles have a wonderful panorama of rolling hills of fields and forests. There is much to occupy you with regards to traveling and tasting the delights on the Champagne Route and exploring the medieval towns of Troyes and Bar-sur-Aube.
If relaxing by the pool, playing boules under the shade of trees and soaking in the panoramas is not for you, the roads make for great cycling with little traffic and there are many hiking routes, short and long. The grounds face the forests of the Parc Regional Naturel of the Forest of the Orient, a large park host to much wildlife and three big lakes. One of the lakes is the largest in Europe with no habitation around; the others are devoted to water sports. The converted barns are named after the birds that have settled here, namely the turtle doves, swallows and sparrows. The seasons become very apparent with the migratory birds including the cranes that pass overhead and who settle close by.
For the children, there is Nigloland only five minutes drive, the third largest amusement park in France (great value, set in forest and gardens), working farms to visit and a tree walk/adventure park to name a few. This does not exclude the adults of course. Nearby at Troyes, the centre is amazing to walk through with the lovely old timber buildings and on the edge of town, the largest factory outlets in Europe if you need a bit of retail therapy!
Sarah and James (an English couple who have now made France their home), live in the farmhouse close by and are more than happy to help you out with recommendations. Whilst Eclance is a small village, the villagers have welcomed both Sarah and James and their guests who are more than welcome to join in village life and social occasions.
