Vacation Rental Description

La Baudiere (comprising of Le Pressoir and La Grange) is a well equipped, comfortable, exclusive family holiday home accommodating up to 11 people (or can be split into 2 houses). Our secluded farmhouse is based around a large, south-facing, open courtyard which gives stunning views over the local farmland and woodland and our 10x4m swimming pool (in a secure area with gated access). Large wooden gates at the entrance ensure privacy and child safety. We are situated close to the medieval village of Faye la Vineuse with its 9th century church, popular French-run local bar/restaurant, bakery and post office/epicerie. Nearby are several other villages with restaurants, shops, bakeries. Our farmhouse is ideally located for exploring the beautiful countryside as well as many attractions including horse riding, cycle routes, golf courses, zoos; the historic towns of Richelieu, Chinon, Saumur, Tours and Poitiers, the famous chateaux of Azay le Rideau, Chambord, Bois, Amboise and Chenonceaux.

The 10x4m pool is solely for the use of our guests and is in a secure area with safetylock gated access. There are 5 sun loungers with small tables and parasols around the pool whilst the paved pool terrace has a table with seating for 6 shaded by a large gazebo. We also have 4 folding canvas chairs available if required. The separate terrace area in front of Maison Le Pressoir has a gas barbecue, wooden table with seating for 8 and a large parasol. There is a washing line in the large open barn and a clothes drying rack for pool towels and washing. DRIVING DISTANCES: Our nearest village is Faye la Vineuse (local bakery, restaurant, mini-shop, post office) 5 mins. St. Gervais (nearest shops including bank, post office, bakery, tabac, pharmacy)10 mins. Richelieu (supermarkets, nearest petrol, banks, post office and more) 15 mins. There are 2 supermarkets open on Sunday mornings within a 20 minute drive.

We are in the region which is known as the “Garden of France”, it is a National Park and has been awarded the title of World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The area is described by Meteofrance weather guide as having the second most hours of sunshine annually after the Riviera!

Cycling for all ages is popular here, there are many cycle tracks and routes and the country lanes are so peaceful. If you don't want to bring your own bicycles, there is a company in Chatellerault that does rentals (including delivery/pickup of bicycles)

If you are interested in wine-tasting, please ask - we can arrange for you to visit a local vineyard and also give you details of others in the area.

There are several local markets - please see our information on arrival for the various days. Horseriding stables are within 10 miles, we will be happy to introduce you and help you arrange lessons or outings as required.

It is based around a large, south-facing, open courtyard looking towards the childrens' play area and the 10x4m swimming pool (in a secure area with gated access) and has stunning views over the local farmland, woodland and meadows. Large wooden gates at the entrance to the house and our grounds provide privacy. The nearest village has a superb restaurant; horse riding, golf and other activities nearby. WiFi available.

From JULY to the last weekend of AUGUST, our farmhouse is ONLY available as ONE WHOLE HOUSE. This makes it ideal for families and large groups with the advantage of double lounge space and two kitchen areas.
All booking requests can be made either by email or by telephone. We require a deposit of 25% to hold a reservation. The balance must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to your holiday date. Full booking terms and conditions will be provided with each reservation enquiry prior to deposit payment being requested.
Please note:
Booking LA BAUDIERE (the whole house) gives you exclusive use of ALL facilities and exclusive use of the swimmingpool.
If you book Le Pressoir or La Grange you will be SHARING the use of the pool and all facilities.

We loved our stay - we visited Chinon fortress and spent an afternoon canoeing on the Vienne. The location is fantastic and the pool is the biz! We have already booked to come back. Mike, Kay and Helen, Stockport June 2009.

We so enjoyed our stay at La Baudiere- everything was just right. Hero is already dreaming about going back with a friend for a cycling trip... We've attached a bunch of pictures; feel free to use for the Facebook page. Lara, Hero and kids, Holland (July 2010).

Although I bought La Baudiere in 2000, I was only able to spend a few weeks a year here until 2007, when I gave up my job and moved here full time. Restoring the property and grounds has been a labour of love and I now at last enjoy sharing my beautiful home with my partner, Sue, our families and friends and the many guests who book to stay each summer.
