Vacation Rental Description
For almost a thousand years the Chateau d'Alogny has dominated the valley of the Creuse, and given its name to one of te oldest and most distinguished families of the Poitou. The Seigneur d'Alogny in 1249 accompanied Louis IX on the Sixth Crusade. Despite its mediaeval ambiance, with huge fireplaces, high beamed ceilings, spiral staircase and massive stone walls, Alogny today is warm and welcoming. Under-floor central heating and a roaring open fire ensure that Alogny is comfortable even in winter.  
 
There are four double bedrooms and one twin-bedded one. There are four bathrooms and four toilets. The kitchen has all modern amenities, but does not intrude on the mediaeval ambience. Alogny is surrounded by attractive gardens that contain numerous arbors and private places for reading or relaxing. The large pool is completely private and enjoys magnificent views across the countryside. 
 
Located close to the old Roman spa town of La Roche Posay, looks out across tranquil rolling countryside, but is close to all facilities, including: banks, shops, supermarkets, golf, tennis, race track, horseback riding, casino, historical and pre-historical sites - and much more besides. The region holds numerous attractions, including superlative restaurants, towns & villages of outstanding beauty, numerous castles (including the great chateaux of the Loire Valley) museums of prehistory, all manner of river activities, and Futuroscope, the world-renowned theme park devoted to computer graphics and the moving image.

    • The woods and farmland surrounding Alogny are permeated by a network of trails and green lanes that a great for hiking, riding and mountain biking. In addition our own pool, there are several good locations for river bathing. 
     
    We have several top-flight restaurants in the area. We can also arrange wine tasting excursions. There are several noteworthy prehistoric museums and sites. 
     
    Throughout the year we enjoy a wealth of local events, including horse racing and several important music festivals. La Roche Posay is a spa town famous since Roman times. Visitors can enjoy a wealth of massage and other self-indulgent offerings, as well as the world famous Roche Posay line of skin products.

      High Season Price: €3,900 per Week
         

    Alogny is rented in its entirety by the week for self-catering vacations. Reservations are confirmed upon receipt of a a 25% deposit, the balance being to arrival due six weeks prior. Unless the period booked can be re-rented, deposits are non-refundable. Payment is accepted by bank transfer (in euros) to either designated UK or French banks. A security deposit of 300 is required on arrival, and will be returned within two weeks, assuming there is no damage.

With his wife, the writer Joyce Wallace Scott, he co-founded the Bali Children's Project helping village children get an education. They divide their time between France, California and Indonesia.
