Le Marronnier is situated on the outskirts of a quiet, picturesque village in south Burgundy enjoying magnificent panoramic views over the Roannais countryside and has its own private pool set within secluded gardens.

This former farmhouse dating back about 250 years has been sympathetically renovated to a high standard by the owners, Jacqueline & David Murphy, combining traditional features with modern facilities so that Le Marronnier is now a well equipped and comfortable holiday home for up to 8 people.

The main ground floor living area is open plan and comprises a comfortable salon or sitting room with UK TV, VCR & DVD, a spacious dining room with stereo, fully fitted kitchen with oven, hob, fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher and there is also a separate downstairs loo, laundry room and store.

Upstairs, there are two double bedded rooms and two twin bedded rooms plus two shower rooms. Please note that children are most welcome and we offer a range of baby equipment for your use - please ask for details.

Outside, there is level parking for up to 4 cars plus one shaded car space. The patio is situated right outside the gîte for easy outdoor dining in the summer and is near to the barbecue. The gardens are mainly laid to lawn so you can either relax lounging by the pool in the sun or take cover under the shady trees.

With full central heating, Le Marronnier makes a comfortable retreat at any time of the year and we welcome bookings for Christmas and the New Year holidays.

The owners do not live on site therefore ensuring complete privacy at Le Marronnier but live about 5 miles away & are always on hand to deal with any queries or offer advice or assistance.

Le Marronnier is situated in the village of Fleury La Montagne where, within 5 minutes walking, you can visit the bar/restaurant which serves traditional food to order. Nearby is a small grocery shop selling most essentials including bread and croissants.

Further afield, there are many pretty towns and villages to explore - many of which have weekly traditional markets with all sorts of fresh produce for sale - and there are many historic churches, chateaux and other places of interest to explore.

Lyon has all the attractions of a major city & is easily accessible - well worth a day trip to see the majestic cathedral and the ancient Roman ruins whilst the local town of Roanne offers great shopping too!

Within easy reach are the world famous Burgundy vineyards to the north or the Beaujolais vineyards to the north-east and it is worth visiting the Côte Roannaise vineyards to sample the local wine.

With many these and many other leisure and sporting activities also within easy reach, Le Marronnier offers the holiday you want and with a real taste of France!

All the above activities are available within a few miles of Le Marronnier.

Bikes can be hired from the town of Charlieu - it is best to book well in advance of your holiday which we can do for you. Tennis is available at many villages - you can hire the courts for an hour or longer. Table tennis is available at the gîte.

For ski enthusiasts, there are two ski stations in the Monts de la Madeleine - Loge des Gardes 1 hour away and Chalmazel 1h15m distant.

For day to day shopping, there are many local supermarkets. The Casino supermarket in Charlieu is open on Sunday mornings which saves any panic on your arrival day and there is also a local market on Sunday mornings in Pouilly sous Charlieu - both 10 minutes away by car.

Other activities include 10 pin bowling at Roanne, sailing at Lac de Villerest, cinema at Roanne & Charlieu and vide greniers (car boot sales) at many villages on Sunday mornings.

All bed linen is included with the rental and beds are made ready for your arrival. Both bathing towels and pool towels are also provided free of charge. All linen is changed once per week.

A maid service is available for an extra charge as is the end-of-let cleaning service.

A Welcome Pack of food and drinks goodies is provided with our compliments and we are happy to do your first shopping for you (by arrangement).

The swimming pool may be heated - the fuel used is metered and charged at cost - and there is table tennis available too.

High Season Price : £1250 per Week

Prices may be subject to change at the owners' discretion.

A non-refundable deposit of £200 per week booked is required on booking with the balance payable 8 weeks prior to arrival. If there are less than 8 weeks to your arrival date, the full amount is payable at the time of booking.

Payments may be made by cheque or by PayPal in either GBP or Euros.
A booking agreement is made on condition that the balance must be paid before 8 weeks before the holiday and after this date (unless informed prior to the 8 week period of a change of circumstances), the balance will be due whether the accommodation is used or not. We ask that you take out insurance cover to protect yourself against this eventuality and to avoid disappointment.

A security deposit of £200 or 300 euros is payable on arrival.

A French tourist tax (currently 0.35 euros) for guests aged 13 years & over per night is payable on arrival.
