Vacation Rental Description

Our house and garden has lovely views of the Morvan hills. The garden is about an acre with many trees and shrubs, including fruit trees, poplars, spruce, silver birch,etc. A large variety of birds visit and nest in the garden, as do red squirrels.
The lounge is large with stone walls and a wood burning stove, with comfortable sofas and armchairs.
The kitchen/diner is also large with an oak dining table.
Two bedrooms are on the ground floor,so it is suitable for those who have difficulty climbing stairs,but there is a step from the kitchen/diner into the hallway.
The large bedromm upstairs has a king bed and a double bed, a toilet and sink.
The shower room is down stairs. There is separate toilet opposite the shower room.
The kitchen is large and very well equipped with an oak table in the dining area.
There is a large patio with tables chairs and loungers. There is also a barbeque.
One ladies and two gents bikes are available at renters risk.
St Honore les Bains is a Spa town. offering treatments with the natural waters, they claim cure for asthma, arthritis, and various other ailments.
A lovely indoor and outdoor swimming pool is a short walk as are tennis courts, childrens play areas, keep fit tracks, riding stables and a maze.
The canals are a short distance, so the variety of scenery with the Morvan hills and the Loire valley leaves plenty of places to visit.

The garage is a large open hanger/barn. There is oil fired central heating, and a wood burning fire. Linen is supplied for the appropriate number of people renting. The upstairs bedroom is very large with a king size bed and a double bed,it also has a toilet and a sink. One bedroom downstairs has twin single beds and a sink, the other has a double bed. There is also a sofa bed in the lounge.There is a shower room downstairs and separate WC The house is cleaned at the end of your stay,though we would ask that it is left as near as possible in the condition that it was found. The kitchen is very well equipped. There are tables and chairs on the patio, and a barbecue

Our house and garden has lovely views of the Morvan hills. Our quiet lane is a cul-de-sac ending in paths into a forest. There are 3 bikes which the guests may use. We are in the spa village of St Honore les Bains. Within a short walk we have riding stables, pretty indoor and outdoor swimming pools, tennis, mini golf, fishing lake, park with play areas for children, country walking or jogging paths, spa where you can take the waters and receive treatments, and numerous restaurants. The village has some very pretty and unusual buildings relating to the fact it is an old spa town. Down to the valley you come to the Nievre canal where you can take boat trips, or even hire a boat. There are many lakes and rivers within easy access by car, for angling and fly fishing. You can even swim in the larger lakes such as Lac de Settons or Panneciere.

In Moulins Engilbert you have shops and supermarket and castle ruins, cattle markets, restaurants, etc. Mont Beuvrey you have Roman archaeological digs (Bibracte), museum of the finds, and lovely walks with beautiful views. Cercy le tour you have a supermarket, canal and river. Decize you have 3 large supermarkets, rivers joining the river Loire, ruined castle, and an old shopping centre on a hill. Chateau Chinon is a historic town with lovely views, and claims to be the capital of the Morvan.

Owners Profile

I used to holiday in the south of France where my parents had a small property, We used to use the drive down as part of the holiday staying at Chambre d'hotes throughout France, but we fell in love with Burgundy, especially the Morvan National Park, with it's hills, forests, wild life, including a vast variety of birds, the pure unpolluted air, absolute tranquility and the roads almost devoid of cars. We still have much to explore. We chose St Honore les Bains as the village is pretty and unique, the buildings are unusual because it has the Spa, It is peaceful, yet has all amenities. It is easy to visit historic towns as the roads are never busy.
There are many good restaurants in the village, and in nearby villages.
The large garden with views, large lounge with stone walls, large well equipped kitchen diner, and large bedrooms especially upstairs. The position on the edge of the village gives us easy access to all the amenities. I like to paint, and my partner likes to fish, so there is plenty of scope for both of us. We enjoy walks in the forest about 200 mtrs at the end of our road, and picking fungi in Autumn (we have studied fungi) We love watching the birds. The autumn colours at the end of October are wonderful. I enjoy a swim in our local pool which never seems to be over crowded. A trip to Lac de Settons for lunch a walk and swim in the lake, and relax on the beach and maybe paint is lovely. Short trips into the hills and down to the canals is always a pleasure.
