La Maison de l'Abeille is situated in the small Village of La Chaume, surrounded by forests and rolling farmland. The village is typical of this part of the Cote D'or, stone houses, 13th Century church and has a nice bar to enjoy a drink sat next to the stream that runs through the bottom of La Chaume
Your private and self contained gite is a newly renovated section of a large and beautiful stone-built barn beside our house, 'L'Abeille' (French for the bee), situated in the quiet hamlet of La Chaume. The gite has been fully renovated, yet it still retains a lot of its original character and charm.
The pretty hamlet of La Chaume is typical of this part of the Cote d'Or with stone-built houses and a 13th century church nestling in beautiful undulating countryside, dense forests and acres of farm land. We are also fortunate in having our own friendly bar - La Caleche (the carriage) - an attraction in itself, which stages a series of professional spectacles throughout most of the summer season
Fully equipped to cater for 4 people comfortably and 6 if required, the gite offers you spacious and very comfortable open-plan accommodation with large lounge area and modern, open-plan kitchen dining room.
There are two good-sized bedrooms upstairs with modern fittings and a light and spacious bathroom with separate shower cubicle.
The kitchen is equipped with an electric hob and oven, washing machine, microwave oven, iron and ironing board. We will also provide all your bed linen, towels, tea-towels etc to ease your packing burden.
The lounge offers you very comfortable and relaxing seating where you can listen to your favourite music on the music centre provided or watch a film on the TV with DVD player (we have a large selection of both CDs and DVDs available on request).
The twin bedroom has a lovely outlook onto the beautiful, undulating countryside and will convert to a double room depending on your needs. The master, double bedroom is spacious and has a cosy double bed and will also accommodate a small extra bed or cot if required.
The bathroom is fully fitted with a bath and a separate shower cubicle for your convenience, it is light and spacious and has a power point for charging your shaver etc, with another lovely view of the Church and village.

Fresh provisions of bread, patisserie and groceries are delivered to La Chaume daily. The bakery itself is in the nearby village of Leuglay - just a 9km drive through picturesque forest - which also has a petrol station, post office and convenience store.
Chatillon sur Seine, the principal town of the Chatillonais, is a 20 minute drive away. With its large supermarkets, traditional French shops, cafes, bars and restaurants, it caters for all your needs. For the more cultural, Chatillon also boasts a charming 10th century church, ruinous chateau, museum and theatre.
Situated just an hours drive from Dijon, Troyes and Auxerre and close to the Champagne area the Gite is very well placed to enjoy the area.
