Vacation Rental Description
Petit Guemene cottage is located in the heart of the market town of Guemene sur Scorff, which was the seat of the noble Rohan family in the Middle Ages. It sleeps 6 with 2 double bedrooms and 2 landing single beds. Original features have been retained, while adding a thoroughly modern kitchen and 2 new bathrooms. Guemene has delightful patisseries, boulangeries, a substantial supermarket, restaurants and banks all a 10 minute stroll from the house. There is a weekly farmers market and a seafood truck that comes into town twice a week with a wonderful variety of fish and seafood.
All linens provided, except beach towels, as well as a Welcome Basket of local cheeses, wine and baguettes and a cleaning service on your departure! The house is equipped with internet, TV, DVD and lots of games & books.
THE MAIN FLOOR is an open plan format, with a dining area which comfortably seats six people, a lovely modern kitchen and a small toilet. This floor has large windows with original shutters, that overlook the private walled garden.
THE LOFT space has exposed stone and beams and a large bedroom with an antique double bed: there is a second mezzanine single bed tucked under the eaves.
THE GARDEN LEVEL has a large 2 bed bedroom that can be combined into a double with a traditional stone hearth and electric fireplace: there is a second mezzanine single bed tucked onto the landing and both have French doors opening directly onto the walled garden.
THE BATHROOMS: newly installed in 2008, the loft area has a full bath, toilet and hand basin. The garden level has a shower bathroom, basin and washing machine, tucked under the stairs. There is a second, separate toilet on the main floor.
THE GARDEN: The house opens to a private walled garden with 2 private patios: furniture and BBQ is provided.
THE AREA: The cottage is ideally suited to explore this area of Brittany: close bye are 6 GOLF COURSES about 40 minutes away: just a 10 minutes to drive takes you to the to the Nantes-Brest canal tow paths for miles of CYCLING(4 quality bikes are provided.The area, the Paye de Roi Morvan, was the ‘Kingdom’ of the Rohan dynasty and is chock full of history. The forests of King Arthur are within an hour’s drive as well as soft-sand beaches, fishing ports, seaside towns and artist towns favoured by the Impressionists!

Petit Guemene is on a quiet side street and has its own walled garden with 2 patios. It was completely and sympathetically renovate din 2008 and the town has every convenience: Bakeries, banks, restaurants, an excellent supermarket and a seafood truck twice weekly.

There are 7 great courses within a 40 minute drive,whatever your skill level. Courses are both on the coast and inland.
The cycling in the area offers many possibilities and 4 good quality bikes are provided:cycling the Nantes Brest canal pathways is 10 minutes away from Guemene and most country routes are very quiet; you are more likely to meet a tractor than a car. These lanes link ancient villages; each with its own bar and usually a baker where you can buy bread baked that morning.
The river Scorff is 5 minutes away from the cottage - great fishing.
