Vacation Rental Description
Tranquil, peaceful, in a spectacular setting. The house is set in its own 5 acre wood. Private pool, boules court, well equiped kitchen, large vaulted lounge/dining room, TV, DVD player, library of DVD films and books. 2 bedrooms, 2 shower-rooms. The house is half a mile from it's closest neighbour and 5 miles from the nearest shops. The accomodation - Vaulted open plan lounge/dining room, large leather family sofa, TV, DVD player,huge wood burning stove and supply of wood, selection of DVDs and books.
The newly updated kitchen is fully equiped, and includes a washing machine, dish washer, microwave/grill/oven, stainless-steel cooker, and a fridge and a freezer a very good selection of KFS, plates, mugs bowls, etc.
The large dining table easily seats 6 people.
The bedroom upstairs has a double bed, french windows onto the Juliet balcony and it's own shower en-suite. Down stairs a twin bedroom with 2 single beds and ample storage. Also downstairs is the large family bathroom, with a large shower cubicle, loo, vanity unit and sink.
The house and grounds have the WOW factor as soon as you drive in through the gate and up the twisting drive. In-side it is visually dramatic with vaulted lounge/dining area and huge manorial fire place with large wood-burning stove and stock of wood. The lounge area has a family-sized deep leather sofa and 2 chairs for relaxing. The 2 handmade Moroccan rugs, cushions and silk curtains give the room a very warm, homely atmosphere. A flat screen TV, DVD player and a good selection of DVDs, books, and indoor games are available for your entertainment. The dining table is large enough to seat up to 8 people. French windows open onto the veranda and overlook the garden, pool, BBQ and the pond. Plenty of room for the children or dog to explore.
There are 2 attractive bedrooms. The main double room is upstairs with a French window opening on to a 'Juliet' balcony with views over the surrounding countryside. This room has an en-suite shower-room with power-shower, loo, and modern stone sink and vanity unit. The other bedroom a twin, is located downstairs and comes with 2 comfortable single beds and plenty of storage space. This room is next door to the large main family shower-room, with large walk-in shower cubicle with power-shower, modern sink and vanity unit.
The house has a well equiped kitchen, full size stainless steel cooker, fridge, microwave/grill/oven washing machine, and a dishwasher. There are plenty of work surfaces and enough cutlery, plates, cups, glasses, pots and pans for up to eight people.
Outside, there is a private pool with a deck surround and a selection of chairs for relaxing. The purpose built barbecue and 'potato-pit' are ideal for alfresco dining and is complimented with 2 outside tables that will seat up to 6 people each. There is a boules court which is always good fun for all the family.
Paths have been cut throught the wood to make exploring easier and benches dotted around if the going gets too energetic!
Plumeliau is the closest town with 2 supermarkets - both open on a Sunday morning, chemist, florist, fish-monger bread shops, bars and local vet.
Pontivy is the closest larger town, with plenty of shops, bars, some very good restaurants. There is an old part of town with cobble streets and timber houses. The market is on a Monday morning, a must to buy your fresh vegetables, fruit, fish, cooked meats.
Vannes is a old harbour town with so wonderful shops, fish restaurants, again a very good market on Saturday and Wednesday morning selling everything you need, vegetables, fish, meats, cakes, bread, and the delicious roti chicken.
Facilities
Karting is available just outside Plumeliau Canoes and bikes can be hired in St Nicholas des Eaux The Blavet river and the canal are 10 minutes drive, the tow paths are excellent for easy walking or cycling The rolling country-side and quiet lanes are an excellent place for walking or cycling Horse riding and a 9 hole golf course are available in Bieuzy Bowling in Pontivy Camours a forest adventure park, fun for all the family, tree top ladders, zip wires etc. Fishing on the Blavet or on the lakes, it is possible to buy a permit from local Tabac's Pontivy, a beautiful old market town, has some very good restaurants, shops, the market Monday morning. Vannes is the closest seaside town about 30 minutes drive. A beautiful old harbour town with timber houses, chateaux and gardens, lavoir, great restaurants seafood a speciallity, a fantastic market on Saturday and Wednesday mornings. Carnac has long sandy beaches and a childrens play area.
Activities
The area is very good for hiking and cycling with the rolling county side and quiet roads.
Kayaking is available at St Nicholas de Eaux and on the coast around Vannes
Plumeliau is the closest shopping, with 2 supermarkets, fresh fish monger, bread shops,chemist, florist, and the local vet.
There are a full range of water sport activities available on the Lac de Guerledan and the Lac du Duc.
Fishing is available on the river or the above lakes and it is possible to buy permits from the local Tabac's
Pontivy is a beautiful old market town and has some really good restaurants, shops, the market on Monday.
Vannes is an old harbour town and is very good for shopping, either on the market, Monday and Wednesday mornings or in the selection of interesting and unusual shop in the town. There are good restaurants, especially seafood, creperies, vegetarian. A good place to stop for lunch with a glass of wine while people watching.
