Vacation Rental Description
THE HOUSE : Villa Ty Maria is part of an 18th century granite stone farm building raised in the woodsy and peaceful park of Chateau de Keralier, a castle erected in 1670. The house has a wide (400m2) flowery and sunfilled ornemental garden and a spacious terrace. Its inside and ouside renovation was completed in 2006 and its geographical situation on the Rhuys Peninsula is ideal for holidays enjoyment : On the Gulf of Morbihan side, there are family beaches, the first ones 500m away from the villa and a larger one 800m away with a young children's playground ; On the Atlantic Ocean side of the peninsula, immense sand beaches are only 3km away.

FOOTPATH TO BEACHES : All these beaches are served by the coastal footpath which also allows leisurely sightseing, walks, jogging and trekking all around the Rhuys Peninsula with magnificient vista and innumerable different panorama over the Gulf and the Ocean.

INDIAN SUMMER : For the lucky persons who can take time off between mid-september and mid-October, "Indian Summer" is the ideal season to take advantage of the Gulf of Morbihan's microclimate : sunny days, mild temperature, peace and quiet after the peak tourist season, iridescent light on the sea, bird migration, etc... and last but not least : In addition to reduced train tickets (Vannes TGV station in only 30 minutes away) and low cost airfares(Nantes International Airport is 1OOkm away), the rental rate offered for Villa Ty Maria during that particular period, is especially attractive.

HISTORY & CULTURE : Rhuys Peninsula is enriched by its historical and cultural heritage. Among its numerous ancient monuments, some are pre-emintently outstanding : Megalitic site of the "Petit Mont" built between the years 5000 and 2600 BC, 11th century Abbey of St Gildas de Rhuys which is still active, 13th century castle of Suscinio, 12th century Caden Manor, 18th century castle of Kerlevan,...
There are many other protected locations in the vicinity of the Gulf of Morbihan such as : Vannes, the capital and ancient port city of the department of Morbihan, is over 2000 years old and was fortifyied in the first place by the Gallo-Romans, then the city walls were strengthened during the Middle Ages and are still perfectly preserved ; The village of Rochefort-en Terre remains as it was in 16th/17th century ; The old City of Auray was built around 1200 at the same time as its port, St Goustan, specialized in passenger transport (Benjamin Franklin landed secretly in St Goustan on his way to seek help from French King Louis XVI) as well as in the import and export trade ; The famous Carnac row of megalitic stones, on the North shore of the Gulf, etc.

LEISURE ACTIVITIES : One of the Gulf of Morbihan's richness is its bird life. The swamps of Sene, near Vannes, are both a natural bird reserve and a transit way for them between the North and the South. September and October are the most active months.
Being one of the leading high standing holidays area in France, Gulf of Morbihan offers a complete range of leisure activities among which : water sports (sailing, boating, windsurfing, fishing, etc.), golf, tennis, horse riding, hiking, trekking, jogging, cycling,... All kinds of restaurants are available in the Gulf area ; In Arzon, land end of the peninsula (6km from the villa), there are also : one of the largest marinas of the French Atlantic coast, a famous thalassatherapy spa, a casino, a cinema and a night-club.

MAJOR SPECIAL EVENTS :
=> In September (date to be confirmed) : Bird watching with professional ornithologists / natural reserve of Sene.
=> 1st November week-end : LES MILLE SABORD / Major European second hand boat exhibition in Le Crouesty port.
