Vacation Rental Description

La Maison Fermiere

The property was once a working farmhouse and has been sympathetically and newly renovated, with spacious accommodation, while retaining many of the original features. Open stone work in some areas, exposed beams throughout, original stone Breton fireplace, original wood floor, some typical Breton furniture with large comfy sofas and central heating, (low season only). Ideal for a large party to live in, without getting on top of each other. It is situated in the hamlet of Bodrain, in the Blavet Valley, close to the old market town of Baud.

On the first floor:- a staircase from the lounge leads to two bedrooms- both triple - one double and single, plus wooden cot and 3 singles. There is a separate shower room, with a WC and washbasin. Another staircase, at the other end of the house, leads to an en-suite master/family bedroom, with one double bed, one single bed and a wooden cot.

On the ground floor there are two bedrooms:- one double and one twin. a separate bathroom, with a bath, shower and WC with a washbasin, and a laundry room with washing machine and sink.

There is also a Z bed for flexibility, plus two travel cots and two highchairs.

The large lounge on the ground floor has the original Breton stone fireplace and wood floor. Three large sofas, television, video, and the staircase leading to part of the first floor. The passage leads to a spacious living area comprising of a modern, well-equipped country kitchen, dining area with a large table which seats 12, 2 sofas and chair, and has four sets of French doors looking onto the garden and pool area. The garden, which is laid to lawn and totally fenced, has a private enclosed, heated, swimming pool (May to September), pool furniture, patio with garden furniture, stone BBQ, pergola, slide and swings, and overlooks open countryside. There is a large grassed area to the side of the property which is ideal for a game of badminton.

Linen (except towels), electricity, water and central heating (low season only), cots, highchairs and welcome pack are all included.

Whilst Bodrain is situated in a quiet and rural location, it offers the opportunity to explore the typical French market town of Baud, (5 minutes away), with 2 large supermarkets, a number of bakers, butchers and a fresh fish shop, and a varied amount of restaurants to choose from. The picturesque towns of medieval Vannes, Aurays art galleries, the beach at Carnac and the famous Gulf of Morbihan. Fishing, walking, water sports, cycling, (there are cycles and helmets at the house) and numerous golf courses. Out of season Golfing breaks, breakfast available. Child minding available.

Places to visit

Carnac and La Trinite-sur-Mer (approx 1 hour)

Carnac is essentially a beach resort situated on the Bay of Quiberon with a long sandy beach and warm water. You can also wind surf here. There are lots of tourist shops and restaurants. The old town is also worth a visit.

La Trinite-sur-Mer is adjacent to Carnac and has a large marina and some excellent shops and galleries.

Quiberon (approx 1 hour)

The Quiberon peninsula, (benefiting from the sea warming effects of the Gulf stream ) stretches fourteen kilometres into the sea and boasts 14 sandy beaches and more than 2,500 hours of sunlight a year. The main town of Quiberon is an attractive seaside resort with a large sandy beach, promenade and plenty of beachside bars, restaurants and souvenir shops. It also has a casino.
On the way down visit the typical fishing port of Portivy with its sea food restaurants.
You can take the ferry from Quiberon to Le Palais on the ‘Belle Ile’ (The beautiful Island) where you can hire bicycles and explore the island. The ferry departs from Port Maria.

Gulf de Morbihan

Morbihan means ‘the little sea’ and owes its name to the little Inland Sea.

There is an archaeology centre which you can visit at Melrand.

Go Karting between Josselin and Ploermel – 500 metres from the motorway.

Don’t miss a day out at Oceanopolis, in Brest. A very big park full of 1,000 species of fish. Sharks, seals and penguins can also be seen here.

Food lovers will enjoy the wonderful restaurants, local seafood and Breton specialities of galettes and crepes. Taste wine from all over France in the local wine cellars – and stock up for the return home.

Markets

Hennebont - A big market covering the centre of the city. Thursday morning 9am.

Lorient - A very good big market in the centre of town. Wednesday and Saturday morning. This big city is good for shopping too.

Auray - Quite large. Monday morning.

Carnac – Sunday mornings

La Trinite-surmer - Friday morning. This is also a pretty sailing centre.

The house is ideal for a large family party with plenty of space. The private pool is heated and both the pool and garden are not overlooked. There are views of the open countryside from both front and rear of property. The kitchen is well equipped and there are numerous toys, games, books, swing and bikes to keep everyone occuupied. The beach is a 20-30 minute drive away and the motorway only a few minutes away, although the property is in a quiet and peaceful location. There is a large patio area to the along the rear of the property with a table and seating under a wisteria covered pergola. There is also a large BBQ outside and pool furniture. The pool itself is fenced and has Roman steps and has a depth of 1.2m-1.4m. The house itself has two staircases - one at either end of the house. One leads to an en-suite family room, the other to two further bedrooms and shower room, with two more bedrooms and a bathroom on the ground floor.

Bookings run Saturday to Saturday

24 May - 28 June £1,000 per week
28 June - 19 July £1,200 per week
19 July - 30 August £1,950 per week
30 August - 27 September £1,000 per week

Other times by negotiation

To reserve the “Property” the Client should complete and sign the booking form and return it together with payment of the initial non-refundable deposit (25% of the total rental due). Following receipt of the booking form and deposit the Owner will send a booking confirmation and receipt. This is the formal acceptance of the booking.
The balance of the rent and £150 refundable deposit, is payable not less than 6 weeks before the start of the rental period. Reservations made within six weeks of the start of the rental period requires full payment at time of booking. The rental period shall commence at 4pm on the first day and finish at 10am on the last day.
