Ty Gwenn, a perfect relaxing holiday home, is a charming Breton Farmhouse, set on the Montagnes Noire in Finistère. Located around 2km from the closest village with views into the open fields. The property has a gravelled drive, with parking for at least 6 cars, and a large garden area suitable for energetic kids!
Ty Gwenn is an ideal base for a family or group holiday. It lies in the heart of rural Finistere, with many tourist attractions and sandy beaches being within a 45 minute drive. This makes it ideal for a range of activities, such as fishing, walking, cycling and horse riding. The closest town of Châteauneuf du Faou, is a 10 minute drive, and has a range of bars, restaurants and supermarkets, and a local heated swimming pool. There are lots of water based activities at the close by Nantes-Brest Canal. Quimper is around a 25 minute drive, where you will find a larger selection of shops, restaurants, museums, theatres etc..

This beautiful Breton farmhouse has been carefully restored to a high standard with wooden and tiled floors. The house benefits from oil fired central heating and double glazing, making it an ideal summer and winter accommodation for 6-10 people. There is a large living/dining room, and second downstairs 'games' room containing local information, books and games.

There are two large double bedrooms, one quadruple room with 2 sets of bunk beds, and a small room suitable for a baby complete with travel cot. There is a single bed available in the downstairs 'games' room. All of the bedrooms would be large enough for further travel cots if you would like to bring them along. There is a spacious bathroom with overhead shower. There is an additional shower room on the ground floor. All beds have pillows, duvets, and bedlinen is available, so you will only need to bring towels.

The property is surrounded by lawn, and ideal for lazy summer lunches or evenings spent eating outside. 2 Garden tables, sun parasols and seats for 12 are provided, with some outdoor toys for you to enjoy the open space.

The house has 2 Double Bedrooms, a family room containing two sets of bunkbeds, and an additional room upstairs contains a cot, and baby equipment such as bath, potty, highchair. There is an additional travel cot available for use. The downstairs 'games' room also has a single daybed, making the house ideal for sleeping 9+. The house has a large family bathroom, with bath and shower above. Downstairs there are 2 separate WC's and a Shower Room. The living/dining area has sofa's and a table that seats 10. Kitchen table seats 4-6. Outdoor patio dining table and chairs available to seat 12. The house is well equipped with Microwave, Coffee Maker, Kettle, Toaster, and a full selection of kitchen utensils are provided. There are washing and drying facilities available. Stair Gates are in place. Good range of board games, and videos are available. BBQ available in summer months. Local tourist info is provided, along with a range of indoor and outdoor games.

Pillows and Duvets are provided, and bedlinen can be provided on request. Arrival at 4pm, and departure at 10am (negotiable in low season). Arrival day - can be flexible so that you can benefit from the off peak cheaper ferry fares available. You will need to bring towels as these are not provided. Discount is offered on bookings for 2 weeks. Security Deposit of £150 will need to be paid to confirm your booking, this is refundable within 2 weeks of your stay on return of keys etc, and with the property being left in a clean condition. Balance of booking to be paid four weeks before arrival. Cancellations within 4 weeks of arrival will be subject to full payment, unless we can find alternative guests. Confirmation of the booking will be sent as soon as your security deposit has cleared. Payment by cheque, bank transfer or Paypal.

Tranquilitiy away from a busy lifestyle

We bought this house in 2005 for a bolt hole, away from work and town living. My partner and I both work long hours at times, and wanted somewhere away from it all. We wanted a family friendly property so that our children can enjoy space and countryside. This is an ideal location as we can visit and explore gorgeous Brittany, take family and friends, relax and enjoy the local produce. We have had busy weeks at the house, gradually re-decorating and doing improvement work, lots of enjoyable time spent with family and friends, and a great base for exploring. The house is around 40 mins from Brittany's north, west and southern coasts so we always try and make at least 2 trips to different coastlines while we are there. We keep discovering great beaches hidden away, and lovely towns to explore. As we find it such a restful pace of life, we opened the house up for a few rentals each year so others can share the delights of Brittany. In the future we hope to do further development on the house; we have been working away on the Attic, and have learnt how to install Velux Windows, and there is an old house that has previously been used as a garage, that we would love to develop into initially a games room, and then into a one bedroom self contained annex. We love to have feedback from rentors, and will take on board any suggestions.
