La Belle Maison is a charmingly updated, detached 2 bedroom traditional cottage with its own enclosed sunny garden tucked away in rolling countryside near Plessala, a bustling market village just 10km from the lovely medieval town of Moncontour -designated a Breton "Petite Cité de Caractère”.
A combination of beautiful surroundings and easy access to a variety of tourist attractions provide a relaxing hide-away for couples and the perfect touring base for families of 4 (plus a baby).
The cottage is in an ideal location for anyone who enjoys walking, bird watching, star gazing, cycling, river kayaking, angling, meandering around traditional markets, trying out local specialities in small family restaurants and soaking up the atmosphere in towns and villages that appear unchanged over centuries.
The single level vacation rental accommodation is privately accessed and not overlooked, it comprises:
Central hallway with original terracotta floor tiles, coat-hooks, mirror, stocked bookcase.
Spacious dual aspect kitchen-diner with original floor tiles, working shutters on the large south facing window.
Kitchen area, comprehensively equipped including an electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge-freezer, kettle, toaster, heated towel rail and a full complement of cooking utensils.
Dining area, with an extendable table and chairs, an armchair and a storage unit with plenty of crockery and glassware, an extension collection of local large scale maps and tourist information.
Separate light airy sitting room, with chestnut parquet flooring, very comfortable 3 piece suite, TV and DVD, wood burner, electric heater and working shutters at the south facing window.
Double bedroom with panel radiator, chestnut parquet, working shutters - west facing window, wardrobe, drawers, mirror and chair.
Twin bedroom with panel radiator, chestnut parquet, working shutters - east facing window, wardrobe, drawers, mirror and chair.
Large shower room, fully tiled throughout, enclosed shower cubicle, towel radiator, tall storage unit, mirror, power point and chair.
Separately accessed lower ground floor storeroom for cycles, golf clubs, walking boots etc, plus dedicated cottage laundry area with washing machine, airer etc.
Surrounding the cottage to the south and west, the enclosed mature garden benefits from the sun throughout the day and on into summer evenings, when sunsets over the forest can be enjoyed.
Built-in stone barbecue and hardwood table with chairs and parasol in a sheltered outdoor dining space that is ringed by herbs and flowering shrubs. A rotary dryer is sited in an unobtrusive area of the garden.
Parking is provided directly opposite the holiday let.
Our self-catering holiday cottage is comprehensively equipped for year round occupation and is available for short breaks and monthly vacation rentals in addition to weekly holiday lets.

Modern efficient panel heaters are fitted and there is also a woodburner in the living room, fans are available if required in warm weather.

Bird watching - many species rarely seen in built-up areas can be spotted routinely.
Walking, rambling, hiking, cycling ... there are several marked circular trails around Plessala ranging from 5 to 16km, plus many more lengthy ones in the nearby forest.
The River Lie runs through the valley below la Fontaine Rouillee - it is a 5 star trout river plus there is kayak hire for individual use or join in accompanied group sessions.
Pony trekking - accompanied trails through Loudeac Forest are organised by the stables on its outskirts.
There are several good restaurants in nearby Moncontour, plus a creperie, bars, shops and a weekly market in Plessala.
Within a half-an-hour drive there are 2 large inland lakes with water sports and fishing, medieval cities with castles, several golf courses, various tourist attractions and the stunning north coast of Brittany with its beautiful beaches, marinas and tucked away coves.

Plessala is an hours drive from the ferry port at St Malo, less than 2 hours from Roscoff and around 3 hours from Caen and Cherbourg, making this an easy to reach destination from the western chanel ports. All our guests are offered use of our 20% discount against Brittany Ferries crossings.
