Our lovely old longere holiday cottage is entered through a traditional Breton arched doorway which opens into a spacious double height hall that features the original exposed oak beams which have been retained throughout this ancient building. Although the traditional structure of the property has been restored, the interior has been fully insulated and updated to provide all comforts required for modern living.
Open plan kitchen with a deep low window seat. Fully equipped for 6 guests to cater throughout the year; with full size cooker, microwave, fridge-freezer, kettle, toaster, heated towel rail and a full complement of cooking utensils, crockery, glassware etc.
Large dual aspect living room with dining table and chairs, sofas, stocked bookcase, local maps and tourist information, coffee table, TV receiving UK free to air chanels, DVD with selection of discs, wood burner, panel heater and French doors to the terrace.
Pretty ground floor double bedroom with panel radiator, French doors to the terrace, hanging and storage unit, chest of drawers, bedside tables with lamps, mirror and chair.
Adjacent ground floor shower room with heater, enclosed shower cubicle, WC, basin, wall cupboard, power point, mirror, heater, towel rail and stool, hairdryer.
Open central hallway with under-stair laundry area, upstairs is a galleried landing having 2 further bedroom suites opposite each other:

At the rear accessed from the living room and the ground floor bedroom is a big patio area with built-in BBQ, hardwood furniture and magnificent views. Raised stone planters and fruit bushes edge the terrace, beyond which is an open paddock with trees dotted along its border.
To the front is a gravel drive giving level access to the wide front door; a raised herb bed, lots of pots of flowering plants and bench seating provide another area to enjoy the outside of this ancient building.
There is ample on-site parking and a separate lockable store for cycles, golf clubs etc.
The self catering gîte accommodation can be rented year round either as a 2 storied, 3 bedroom holiday house suitable for groups of adult friends or families with older children, or as a 1 bedroom ground floor couples only vacation apartment (not at the same time!). Sorry bookings for this holiday property from families with children under 10 cannot be accepted.
The English owners live next door and personally maintain their vacation rental accommodation. They are pleased to assist guests with any queries about the local area to enable them to make the most of their holiday, whilst keeping a discrete distance unless guests wish otherwise. All the holiday cottage facilities, both indoors and out, are for the exclusive use of the guests and are not shared by the owners.

Modern efficient panel heaters are fitted and there is also a woodburner in the living room, fans are available if required in warm weather.
UK free-to-air television and radio are received on the TV via satellite.
There is a well stocked bookcase, a selection of films on DVD and music CDs, and traditional board games.
The kitchen is fitted for year round self-catering and has a wide variety of cooking equipment and utensils, plus plenty of crockery, cutlery and glassware.

Bird watching - many species rarely seen in built-up areas can be spotted routinely in the area surrounding the longere.
Walking, rambling, hiking, cycling ... there are several marked circular trails around Plessala ranging from 5 to 16km, plus many more lengthy ones in the nearby forest.
The River Lie runs through the valley below la Fontaine Rouillee - it is a 5 star trout river plus there is kayak hire for individual use or join in accompanied group sessions.
Pony trekking - accompanied trails through Loudeac Forest are organised by the stables on its outskirts.
There are creperies, bars and small restaurants offering good value home cooking, plus weekly fresh food markets in most villages in the area.
Within a half-an-hour drive there are inland lakes with water sports, medieval cities with castles, beautiful beaches, several golf courses, various tourist attractions and the stunning north coast of Brittany.

A combination of beautiful surroundings and easy access to a variety of tourist attractions provide a relaxing hide-away, the perfect touring base and an ideal location for anyone who enjoys walking, bird watching, star gazing, cycling, river kayaking, angling, meandering around traditional markets, trying out local specialities in small family restaurants and soaking up the atmosphere in towns and villages that appear unchanged over centuries. Plessala is an hours drive from the ferry port at St Malo, less than 2 hours from Roscoff and around 3 hours from Caen and Cherbourg, making this an easy to reach destination from the western chanel ports. All our guests are offered use of our 20% discount against Brittany Ferries crossings.
