Brief description of the area:
Dinan is a fantastic example of one of the most perfectly preserved medieval towns in Brittany. Old world charm is everywhere. There are numerous Picturesque 15th and 16th century half-timbered houses with their pointed gables and wooden porches lining the cobbled streets, while a 14th century castle and ramparts that completely encircle the town state clearly that this was once a major military stronghold.
Dinan can only be properly explored on foot, and you shouldn't hesitate to make use of the locals' knowledge. They genuinely love their town, and take enormous delight in showing it off to visitors at every opportunity. Never is this more evident than during the July festival held here, La fete des Ramparts. This is probably the largest and most spectacular medieval festival in Europe, and certainly a hugely impressive journey back through the centuries and not to be missed, being held every two years, the next being 2010.

The SAINT-MALO region, from MONT SAINT-MICHEL to SAINT-BRIAC, sliced by the Rance estuary, is made of three main coastal towns: the elegant town of DINARD, SAINT-MALO, a city full of history, and the fishing village of CANCALE, all within easy reach from each other and offering visitors a rich palette and varied places to discover.
The walled town of St. Malo that was destroyed in 1944 has been rebuilt in its original style, which renders it unique in France. While on holiday in St. Malo enjoy breathtaking views of the bay of Saint-Malo as you explore the 2kms of ramparts which surround the walled town, and discover picturesque streets and the corsair dwellings as you walk the marked pathways “Saint Malo Historique”, and visit the 9th century cathedral and chateau. Or enjoy relaxing on one of the beautiful beaches a short walk from your apartment, or exploring the Grand Be, the resting place of Saint Malo’s famous son, the French politician and romantic writer, Chateaubriand. While there discover the vestiges of an ancient fort which can be reached at low tide.

Lancieux has been a popular seaside village since the 1880’s and continues to this day. There are several beaches to choose from with St. Sieu being the main beach with almost a kilometre of fine sand, and is protected by reefs. During the summer months there are many beach activities offered such as beach volley, sand castle and marbles competitions, sand yachting, sailing, canoeing and swimming in buoyed areas. There is also a weekly market is held every Tuesday morning in the village. There are also many exciting walking paths and natural sites in the area such as Le Tertre Corlieu with 15 hectares of dunes and paths with wonderful views of the peninsula of St. Jacut de la Mer and Lancieux. This area of conservation is the home to rare species of plants and orchards.

Jugon-les-Lacs a city of character (‘petit cite de caricature de Bretagne’) is situated in a small valley, boardering a beautiful lake, offering a variety of water sports and fishing. Jugon's architectural heritage, historic monuments dating from the 12th century, granite mansions and central square, testify to the proud history of Jugon.
