Vacation Rental Description
La Julerie is 2km from Corseul & only 10km from historic Dinan and 18km from the coast with its numerous glorious beaches, yet it is situated in a quiet rural setting away from main-roads. Ideal for families or groups who want to relax & enjoy Brittany’s charms in peaceful surroundings. We have converted the farm longhouse and stables at La Julerie into 4 Gîtes. Each cottage has been individually re-created in the Breton style and we have taken great care to ensure that all the beautiful original timbers are exposed throughout each cottages, but at the same time have equipped each cottage with fitted kitchen, comfortable chairs and sofas & French/English TV, DVD players, wooden patio tables & chairs & barbeque equipment. the 4 gites are: La Vieille Ferme which has the largest ground-floor area of any of our Gites at La Julerie and is a “must” when looking for a group booking as up to 24 people can sit and dine together; this gite has 3 bedrooms sleeping 6 people.This gite has a wood burning stove in addition to the central heating.
Les Etables aux Hirondelles has 2 bedrooms and can sleep 4 people; apart from summer holiday periods we offer a 10% discount when only 2 people rent this Gite.
Les Ecuries has 2 bedrooms and a settee bed on the landing,sleeping 5/6 people; this gite is designed to welcome disabled people and a bed can be placed downstairs if required.
Le Grenier is our largest and most luxurious gite sleeing up to 8 people in its 3 ensuite bedrooms. This gite has a wood burning stove in addition to the central heating.
In 2005 we converted the existing barn into a large leisure room with a table tennis table, an area for seating and adjoining the barn we have installed a heated indoor swimming pool, but one with its own glass retractable cover, so in hot weather it is converted to an open air pool. Surrounding the pool there is an enclosed patio with numerous lounging seats for our guests. The whole swimming pool complex has been very popular with all of our guests. In 2007 we have created a boules court in the garden area near the swimming pool complex, again a very popular addition.
Cots and High Chairs and stair gates are freely available, but do reserve them when making your booking. Our tariffs are fully inclusive of all bath and bedroom linen, kitchen towels, serviettes etc, but we do ask guests to bring their own towels for use in the swimming pool complex.
There is ample parking space for guests. La Julerie slopes gently to the south and is a natural suntrap; it is very peaceful being about 2km from main roads, but near historic towns such as Dinan & St Malo & many beautiful beaches & golf courses. As there are no other properties on the road to La Julerie and with space in our yard many guests bring their children’s cycles to use around La Julerie. We have now listed over 55 different types of birds and there are many swallows flying around the buildings throughout the summer; they still nest in some of the buildings. At nighttime you may are more likely to hear owls than cars.
Apart from during summer holiday periods we offer a 10% discount if all 4 of the gites are booked for a minimnum period of 1 week. During holiday periods bookings are weekly from Saturday to Saturday, at other times we accept bookings of less than a week and arrival days to suit our guests
Pets can be accepted subject to prior agreement. We do not permit smoking in any building, only outdoors. Payment can be made in either £ sterling or Euros.

Facilities
There is a large games room with a table tennis table, some seating area and changing rooms and showers and toilet; the indoor swimming pool can only be accessd through this games room, the pool is 9 metres long and has a level depth of 1.65 metres making it ideal for parents to assist young children to learn to swim, but also large and deep enough for all to enjoy. The pool is surrounded on 3 sides by a walled patio artea which is an ideal suntrap. At La Julerie there are swings and a slide and a sand pit for young children and a boules court and badminton equipment for everyone to use. Each of the 4 gites has its own patio and a lawned area and all have wooden garden furniture and barbeques. Beyond the individual garden areas, the rest of gardens are open for all of the Gites to use. As La Julerie is at the end of the road there is no passing traffic so it is a safe place for children to play.
Activities
L:a Julerie is approsimately 18km from the coast where there is an amazing number of safe sandy beaches which make Le Cote D'Armor an ideal family holiday.Whilst many guests come to enjoy the beaches, others come to visit the local historic towns in the area including Dinan, St Malo, Dinard, Moncontour and Rennes. Dinan and Moncontour have Medieval Fetes alternate summers, whilst other towns will have music festivals and there are many museums and galleries to visit. The world famous Mont St Michel is less than an hours drive from La Julerie and well worth a visit.
Sailing classes are held on local beaches throughout the summer and we can make bookings for guests prior to their arrival if asked to do so.
As a member of Brittany Ferries "Property Owners club" we are able to assist all of our guests who travel with this ferry company in obtaining up to 10% discount on the full cost of their tickets.
Travel Options
- Nearest Airport : Dinard/St Malo at 18 kilometers distance;
- Nearest Train Station : Corseul/Lanquenan at 2 kilometers distance
- Nearest Town : Dinard at 10 kilometers distance
- Travel Info: La Julerie is less than 30km (40min) from St Malo ferry port; 2 hrs drive from Caen and also Roscoff, 2 1/2hrs Cherbourg & 5 hrs Calais. We are able to assist all guests travelling with Brittany Ferries to obtain up to 20% discount on he full cost of their tickets Dinard/ St Malo airport receives daily flights from Stanstead and Luton and is only 18km away. Car hire facilties are available. Rennes airport 1hr, Brest and Nantes 2 hrs. All guests will receive detailed directional notes when they confirm their reservations Guests who travel on the overnight ferry from Portsmouth to St Malo can offlaod their luggage at La Julerie in the morning, although access is not normally available till 1600hrs

A deposit of £100 or 150 Euros per week booked per gite is payable on confirmation of rental, the balance is then payable 10 weeks prior to arrival day. Refunds will only be made if the gite is relet. We are now offering a 10% discount on the prices quoted below on all full weeks booked and 15% for each 2 weeks booked for rest of 2011 Although prices are quoted in Euros, payment can be made in either sterling or Euros. The smallest gite at La Julerie is Les Etables aux Hirondelles (84 sq mts) and sleeps 4 in 2 bedrooms; Les Ecuries sleeps 5/6 in 2 bedrooms. La Vieille Ferme has 3 bedrooms and sleeps 6, whilst our largest and most luxurious gite Le Grenier sleeps 8 in 3 bedrooms all with en-suite facilities. Both La Veille Ferme and Le Grenier have wood buring stoves. "Robert provides excellent holiday accomodation at his gites, les Juleries, a few miles from Dinan (great place for a visit - very like a compact version of York with a river port attached). Quiet comfortable and well appointed, with a small swimming pool much appreciated by our youngest son; a good base for touring north-western Brittany, though Carnac on the south coast wasn't too far a stretch either. Robert was also very helpful with the booking process, car hire, and local information. We spent a very comfortable week at les Juleries earlier this year, and if we re-visit the area, we would certainly try to book with Robert again."

Owners Profile
Robert and Elizabeth Norman who are now retired, run the business (from the UK in the winter, and from France in the summer). They are assisted by their French daughter in law Lydiane who lives at La Julerie and who takes care of the business on a day by day basis.
All of the renovation/conversion work, which is admired by guests and also by the French authorities, was done by their son Tim (Lydiane's husband). This is very much a family run business with all guests treated "as friends"
