Our lovely old longere is entered through a traditional Breton arched doorway which opens into a spacious double height hall that features the original exposed oak beams which have been retained throughout this ancient building. The traditional structure of the property has been restored and the interior is fully insulated and updated to provide all comforts required for modern living.
The ground floor holiday cottage provides spacious, light and airey self-catering holiday accommodation for couples seeking a tranquil base in this beautiful part of Brittany. The area is particularly suited to walkers, nature lovers, bird watchers, cyclists and history buffs; whilst the central location makes this gite a good choice as a touring base for guests wanting to explore the region.
There is an open-plan kitchen with a deep low window seat, it is fully equipped for guests to cater throughout the year, and includes a gas cooker with 4 ring hob, full size oven and electric grill, microwave, fridge-freezer, kettle, toaster, heated towel rail and a full complement of cooking utensils, crockery, glassware etc. A washing machine, airer, iron and board are also provided and there is a rotary dryer outside.

At the rear accessed from the living and ground floor bedroom is a big patio area with built-in BBQ, hardwood furniture and magnificent views. Raised stone planters and fruit bushes edge the terrace, beyond which is an open paddock with trees dotted along its border.
To the front is a gravel drive giving level access to the wide front door; a raised herb bed, lots of pots of flowering plants and bench seating provide another area to enjoy the outside of this ancient building.
There is ample on-site parking and a separate lockable store for cycles, golf clubs etc.
The English owners live next door and personally maintain the holiday accommodation. They are pleased to assist guests with any queries about the local area to enable them to make the most of their holiday, whilst keeping a discrete distance unless guests wish otherwise.
All the holiday cottage facilities, both indoors and out, are for the exclusive use of their guests and not shared by the owners. This property is also available as a larger two storey gite, sleeping up to six guests, however, couples renting the ground floor apartment can rest assured that the two first floor bedrooms and shower-rooms will not be used by anyone during their booking.

Modern efficient panel heaters are fitted and there is also a woodburner in the living room, fans are available if required in warm weather.

The kitchen is equipped for year round self-catering and has a wide variety of utensils.

Bird watching - many species rarely seen in built-up areas can be spotted routinely in the area surrounding the longere.
Walking, rambling, hiking, cycling ... there are several marked circular trails around Plessala ranging from 5 to 16km, plus many more lengthy ones in the nearby forest.
The River Lie runs through the valley below la Fontaine Rouillee - it is a 5 star trout river plus there is kayak hire for individual use or join in accompanied group sessions.
Pony trekking - accompanied trails through Loudeac Forest are organised by the stables on its outskirts.
There are creperies, bars, small restaurants offering good value home cooked lunches and weekly markets in most villages in the area.
Within a half-an-hour drive there are inland lakes with water sports, medieval cities with castles, beautiful beaches, several golf courses, various tourist attractions and the stunning north coast of Brittany.

Plessala is an hours drive from the ferry port at St Malo, less than 2 hours from Roscoff and around 3 hours from Caen and Cherbourg, making this an easy to reach destination from the western chanel ports.
