This traditional Auvergnian house is arranged on three floors and has been completely refurbished thoughout with solid oak floors, staircase and doors. On the ground floor is a large kitchen dining room with a wood burning stove and a large dining table that comfortably seats up to 14 people. (there are beds for 13 people (as 4 doubles & 5 singles or 2 doubles and 9 singles) but one additional camp bed is available). Sunny front garden is enclosed to keep young children or dogs in.

* Ground floor: large kitchen/dining room with French windows that open onto the south facing front garden, sitting room, double bedroom (King size bed 160 x 200) bathroom/loo with walk-in shower
* First Floor: Large master bedroom with ensuite bathroom (Super King size 180 x 200), two additional double bedrooms (1 x King, 1 x Super King size) one family bathroom
* Second Floor: Two large attic bedrooms (with 2 & 3 single beds) share a separate loo with basin.

La Bourboule, a winter & summer resort town with lots of restaurants, a large park, shops, 2 supermarkets etc is just 2km away.

HOUSE RULES - Smoking is not allowed in the house. Children & well-behaved dogs are welcome

Summer activiites
In the summer there is a plan d'Eau swimming and fishing lake 1km from the house + three large lakes nearby. The walking, mountain biking & road cycling in the area are all superb. There is also a golf course & a brilliant high ropes course in Le Mont Dore. La Bourboule (2km away) has a large park with amazing playgrounds, crazy golf, train rides etc for children.

Winter & Skiing
As the review on mountainpassions.com recently described the ski area,'the Auvergne...offers one unique attraction: the chance to ski down the flanks of an extinct volcano in the startling landscapes of the Parc Régional des Volcans.'

The skiing is surprisingly extensive (85km in total) with Le Mont Dore on the north facing slopes linked to Superbesse on the sunnier side. Sledging, cross country skiing, snow shoeing and dog-sledding are all available in Murat le Quaire. Nearby Le Mont Dore also offers ice-skating & ten pin bowling.

Our house is in the Bourg (the historic centre) of the village of Murat Le Quaire (1000m)

Murat Le Quaire is just 10 minutes drive from the recently completed A89 autoroute. This makes our house a very easy drive from Calais (around 7 1/2 hours) or Le Havre (under 6 hours). Alternatively you can fly Ryanair or Flybe to Limoges and hire a car (2 hours drive) or get the train to Clermont Ferrand (via Paris) and hire a car in Clermont (less than one hour drive from the house).

Facilities nearby
Restaurants: The local restaurant, Le Relais de la Toinette, just 50 metres from the house is excellent & great value for money. The other must visit restaurant is the Auberge du Vergne Noir. It's a 10 minute walk from the house along a footpath - sometimes through the snow. La Bourboule (2 km away) has around 20 restaurants, bars & even a casino.
