Vacation Rental Description
Chassignolles is situated in the Haute Loire, within the Auvergne region of France. It lies amongst beautiful rolling hills in the countryside. This very typical Auvergnat village (bourge) is surrounded by beautiful green pastures, as well as forest lands. Set at around 950 meters, Chassignolles is often above cloud cover & has stunning views of the Mont Dore mountain range on the horizon.
In the summer months the days are long hot & lazy. During the winter period, snow is guaranteed, nearly always at Christmas too. There are many walks & cycle routes to be explored in these peaceful & tranquil surroundings. Mushroom picking, horse riding, cycling, swimming, canoeing & bird watching are just some of the many activities that local residents like to indulge in. Close by are lakes to be fished, swam in & picnicked at, the closest being Champagnac le Vieux which is only 5 miniutes away by car. The air is always clean & unpolluted here at Chassignolles & the surroundings are peaceful.
Chassignolles is 1 hour south of the city ‘Clermont Ferrand’ & just 30 minutes drive from the A75
(J 18) route to the Mediterranean.
Chassignolles Cottage:
The cottage itself has 3 double bedrooms (comfortably accommodating 7 people), one with another single day bed. A travel cot is available too. The equipt bathroom has a bath & separate shower cubicle. Downstairs there is a large sitting room, a breakfast room, a dining room, a toilet & kitchen.
Outside is a completely enclosed rear courtyard garden, which is not overlooked at all, as well as a garden to the side, with off road parking through the large wooden gates.
Bicycles are available and the cottage also has a large TV monitor (no channels), with a dvd/ video player.
This simplistic little village is an ideal retreat to recuperate & relax within the rustic surroundings of the village & the cottage itself.

Activities
Local deliveries of bread, Auvergnat cheeses, vegetables & charcuterie are regular throughout the week, so please don’t be alarmed if you hear the sound of a delivery horn blasting through the tranquillity of the village (older village residents make full use of these facilities).
Within eye shot is the well conserved 12th century village church (which you hear chiming every hour) and within walking distance are a tennis court and football field.
Opposite the Church on the village square is the renowned Auberge de Chassignolles, which is the heart of the village during the summer months.
