Vacation Rental Description
18th century Les Vieux Chenes situated between PAU and BIARRITZ has been carefully restored to offer quality accommodation to visitors. It is well away from noisy roads (guests are often surprised it is so peaceful - lie by the pool and all you can only hear the buzzards crying as they circle above), however it's not far to the city of Pau.  
 
* 4 excellent sized bedrooms  
* 3 nicely fitted bath/shower rooms (2 ensuite)  
* Open plan well fitted kitchen, dining area and sitting area (3 sofas, 2 armchairs, piano, feature fireplace).  
 
Rooms have some french antique furniture and have been arranged to offer a comfortable country house feel.

The farmhouse provides ideal accommodation for up to 8 adults, but is also very suitable for just 2 or 3 people.  
 
25 mins from the chic and vibrant boulevards of PAU 
one hour from BIARRITZ (beaches &surfing) 
less than one hour to SKIING resorts 
but only a few mins to shops and restaurants (historic town of Monein and Navarrenx). 
 
All bedrooms have marvelleous views over distant high Pyrenees. 
 
The private garden and terrace (with large stone built BBQ) overlooks the Pyrenees mountains and offers an excellent opportunity to have breakfast outside in the sunshine. The warm evenings are great for relaxing in the garden and cooking produce purchased at a local market or visiting a local restaurant.  
 
The owners live behind a courtyard in the adjacent property, however as the houses face different directions both are quite private from each other. There are NO OTHER RENTAL PROPERTIES here. 
 
The area is ideal for GOLF (nr Pau, the oldest course in mainland Europe), outstanding FLY FISHING (salmon & trout river very nearby), Walking, WhiteWater Rafting, Wine Tasting, Antique & Bric-a-Braq Hunting, Beaches, SKIING (alpine and cross country, a number of resorts are nearby).  
 
Pass through a gateway in the old garden wall to the POOL which has large Roman steps is a massive 14m x 6m overall This provides a great place for cooling down and sipping a drink or two! The views are almost 360degrees from the pool area - mountains and valleys with the vineyards of the local Jurancon wine. You will often have EXCLUSIVE USE as the only other occasional users are the 2 adult owners.  
 
Your private garden has a lovely old 18th century well house, large, old oak trees providing welcome shade in the heat of the day. There is a private terrace with outside furniture and a barbeque. There is plenty of parking. MOTORBIKES & Classic cars can be left in our locked garage.

    Leigh is a keen golfer and would be delighted to advise on the many excellent courses, we lend you golf clubs and trolleys.

    Gillian worked in the UK as a chef in a busy pub-restaurant and loves finding excellent regional produce for guests to sample. We offer optional first night suppers, deluxe dinners in the 17th century atmospheric dining room - just a few yards to home afterwards. We also offer catered weekends/short breaks.

    We supply a file on good ideas for trips out and can help with reservations and queries. We give you information on local events so you can make the most of your stay. However, if you prefer to be independent we ensure we are discreet and you are ensured privacy.

    When renovating the house we made alterations to provide good sized bedrooms with nice well-fitted bathrooms. The beds have quality mattresses and the decoration & furnishings are a very good standard. We love antique hunting and have a number of interesting french pieces in the house. There are large gardens with mature oak trees and other specimen trees, your own 18th century well-house (pictured on website) and no road noise from a busy road, despite being close to amenities. We overlook the vineyards of Jurancon and encourage you to sample local produce.

    There has been a property here since before 1380, although today we have just the two adjoining houses dating from the 17 & 18th century, small wooden barns, large traditional style garage and four acres. The extensive renovations took a bit longer than planned, but it gave us time to figure out how to make the best possible of this old building. We were keen to ensure the renovations were sympathetic and used local, traditional techniques wherever possible, as well as affording guests a high degree of comfort.
