Fantastic place & excellent hosts in Paul & Kathy. Must come back! Awesome cycling.
Martyn & Debra - August 2009
Perfect as expected. Weather did not disappoint. The guided cycle tour of the hinterlands was most appreciated. See you next year
Lyndi & Stephane – August 2009
A really great place to stay & we’ll be recommending to our friends, particularly the sporty ones!
David & Sally - May 2010
WOW! 6* Accommodation & location 6* cuisine & 6* hospitality. Awesome cycling routes whether flat or up & down the mountains. Great bikes – Paul set the bike up identically to mine at home. I’ve got no excuse to do a good time at l’Etape this year after checking out the route! Thank you for looking after us and making us feel so welcome – the best hospitality in France. See you again soon!
The Black Family - July 2010
Thank you for a lovely stay, had a really great time and loved the house, pool & garden. The cycle routes were really good & next time perhaps will have time for the Aubisque! Ben has his eyes on the PlanetX if you’re selling! Will come again one day, perhaps for a dedicated cycle thing……… if I get a pass!
Judi & Niall - August 2010
Thanks for a really great stay, could not ask for a more relaxing & inspiring place to stay. Local area is wonderful as ever & thanks for the rides out especially the Aubisque – obviously need 2 weeks out here, not one. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality and for making us feel so at home. The house is perfect & we could not have had a better holiday
Christian - August 2010
We dream often of ………. Last week the dream became reality. The next time it will be me waiting for Paul at the top of the Aubisque….. Fat Chance!
Paul & Angela - August 2010
Thanks for a very enjoyable week. Great cycling, lovely pool, lots of stuff to do – rafting, running & exploring gorges & beaches. Thanks for the advice & tips for cycle routes. The beach at Dognen was great too especially the rapids!
Debs & Steve - September 2010
Fabulous hosts, wonderful house. Thank you so much for your company. Great cycling & swimming. Most of all superb food!
Ana, Liv & Kari - October 2010
This has been a wonderful week! Three “old” girls coming from the north to learn more about swimming and bicycle riding - we have really crossed our own borders. Thanks a lot for extraordinary hospitality and the excellent food and service, and thanks to Cris for the coaching in swimming & biking! We will be sure to recommend this place to all the people we know!
Liv - October 2010
I want to thank all the three of you for a nice stay at your place. Such a wonderful host and hostess, competent coaches, excellent cook and so on. What a lovely house and home you have in beautiful surroundings. So many nice small villages with the agricultural smells. I liked the cock in the neighbourhood as well. Charming for me.
My surveyor husband liked very much the return of a smiling, content and fit wife. With so many things to tell him about: my new experience in the swimming pool, our fantastic rides on the bikes in the nice area. The wonderful people I have got acquainted (or familiar?) to. He very much liked the map that we got. Thank you also for the bottle for my cycle. I will use it!
We liked the blog about our stay at your home-site on the web. We have spread it to our training-girlfriends "Piker 50" (Girls 50 Years- as we call our group, though nobody are younger than 61), and to family and friends as well. Some of them shoud like to have a stay at Active Vacanses.
I am so happy to be Annes friend, who is Chris's friend, which gave me the opportunity to participate in this fantastic stay! What an experience I have got. You pushed me, and I did my best.
I have decided to participate in winter training/spinning once a week with the Pedalpigene (Pedalgirls) here in Kristiansand. Then time will show if I am going to cycle "Kristiansand - Hovden" 220 km. I have done it three times before, but then I was about 20 years younger. May be...if it's not raining. Grandmothers like to have it comfortable.
Paul Amey – Autumn 2009
I heard that Paul and Kate had completed the preparation for Active Vacances earlier this year and was so impressed by what they have to offer - and the area in which they are located - that I decided to make this my training base for the World Championship races. I am excited and pleased that I have been able to use their superb facilities for training so that I can get prepared to defend my World Duathlon title and improve my performance in Hawaii. Active Vacances has everything I need for perfect preparation; fantastic riding in the Pyrenees and flat time trialling; the choice of off and on road running and of course a beautiful and exclusive 25 metre pool at my doorstep. On top of this, Paul and Kate make fantastic hosts! They have done a wonderful job and I really recommend Active Vacances, what more could any athlete ask for?
Paul and Kathy moved to France in 2006 lured by the adventure of a new life and sunny weather. We are both keen triathletes (swim, bike, run) and we found the South West of France perfect for everything outdoors. Paul is a veteran of over 20 years in international triathlon and cycling. We visited this beautiful part of France in 2006 and fell in love with the beautiful countryside, the friendly welcome and the regional cuisine. Our house is easily reached from the UK and is set in a rural village with mountains, beaches, river valleys, little market towns and beautiful cities all within easy reach. We are on hand to offer friendly advice and help during your stay. Should you want a completely relaxing holiday we can offer home cooked regional food, shopping, cleaning and transfers. We can also make reservations for a restaurant and visits to local attractions. We can also offer bike hire for the keen cyclist wanting to try out the Tour de France mountains or the quiet woodland trails on top of the range road and mountain bikes.
