This charming 18th century Bearnaise farmhouse and converted barn are nestled at the foothills of the French Pyrenees mountains just on the boundry to the Pyrenees National Park. We are located in the Pyrenees-Atlantiques department of Aquitaine, Southwest France, Department 64. The separate Gites are complemented with an outdoor swimming pool and tranquil garden with stunning views of the Pyrenees mountains. We are conveniently situated in the beautiful and typically French village of Issor, postcode 64570.
Our fantastic location in the South West of France means you have the Pyrenees mountains within easy reach but also we are just 10 minutes from the quaint town of Oloron-Sainte-Marie, 50mins from the beautiful City of Pau and 1.5hrs from Biarritz on the coast. Pau, Lourdes-Tarbes and Biarritz are all served by Ryanair flights from Stansted, Dublin or Shannon, and from Bristol to Pau, Easyjet also serves Biarritz. Toulouse, which is just over 2hrs away is served by Air France and British Airways. Lourdes is equally only 1 hour and 15 minutes drive from our location. For visitors who are touring on motorbikes or driving, the northern Spanish ferry ports of Bilbao and Santander are just over 3 hours and 4 hours away respectively.
Summer or winter, our self catering, self contained gites or holiday homes are open all year round, taking advantage of the beautiful seasons. The house itself has a date of 1760 etched into the stone doorway, which was the era of King Louis the 16th and the three musketeers. From our courtyard gates, you can walk in any direction and enjoy breathtaking scenery. The property is surrounded by fields and views of the mountains. There is a fabulous walking route that begins next to the property, taking you through beautiful wooded areas, over streams and passed vast open fields.
In the village of Issor, with a magnificent view of the surrounding area, we have a little shop come cafe/bar where the locals will welcome you. Also nearby are several ski resorts, the closest being just 40mins away, La Pierre Saint Martin, with spectacular panoramic views. There are plenty of restaurants and bars located nearby.
The Courtyard Gite (3 Bedroom) sleeps 6adults+2children This gite has three bedrooms, sleeping up to six adults plus space for children on foldaway beds. On the first floor is the large double bedroom, shower room with toilet and an additional separate toilet. A wooden staircase leads from the first floor landing up to the second floor, where there are two further twin bedrooms. This gite has exclusive use of the traditional Béarnaise balcony, overlooking the charming courtyard, which is adorned with colourful flowers and the spectacular mountains beyond. French doors on the ground floor lounge area lead out into its own exclusive courtyard to sit and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Both gites have use of the secluded garden, which is surrounded by the typically French countryside with an attractive swimming pool at the far end and stunning views of the mountains. Available are tables and chairs and also sunloungers by the pool and the use of a barbeque for those warm balmy evenings. The gites are superbly located in the quiet village of Issor, with just a short stroll over the pretty stream to its own bar/café and shop. But also just 10mins drive to the picturesque town of Oloron-Sainte-Marie with everything you need. A good choice of supermarkets, boutiques, cafes and restaurants and a typical French market every Friday. The bread lady delivers to the property five mornings a week opening her van doors to a wonderful mouth-watering array of fresh breads, croissants and cakes to choose from. A Wireless WiFi internet connection is available in the Courtyard Gite.
