The Surrounding Area :
Steeped in history, the region of Aquitaine was for many years under English control and much of Britain’s history was influenced by events here. The famous “bastide” towns – designed to be easily defended against attack – were built during the 100 years war by both the English and French. Dating from the 12th and 13th centuries, many seem almost unchanged today.
Without doubt, one of the prime attractions of this part of north Lot et Garonne and south Dordogne are the vineyards. Some of the most famous and respected vineyards in the world are just an “outing” away from Guinot Bas. Bordeaux, St. Emillion, Pomerol, the Medoc, Bergerac, Cahors, Percharmont, Monbazillac – all are here awaiting your tastebuds !!
In addition to the activities listed above, the colourful street markets and many evening fairs and feasts througout the summer months are well worth visiting.
