Equidistant from no fewer than four international airports, this is the ideal location for exploring Aquitaine and is within easy reach of both the atlantic coast and the Pyrenees.

The medieval village of Sos sits on top of a hill with commanding views of the surrounding countryside. Built around a stunning arcaded square, many of the houses including "Les Lauriers" are half-timbered and date back to the renaissance.

The village has is everything one could require - a pharmacy, a butcher, a small supermarket/boulangerie and two good restaurants. Once a week a fish stall and a vegetable stall are set up and on Wednesday evenings throughout July and August there is a farmers' market in the village square; buy your dinner from the numerous stalls and enjoy it alfresco with many of the inhabitants of the village as well as visitors to the area.

The house is located in one of the original medieval streets leading off the village square in the heart of Sos. It is very spacious and built in the typical local style around a small central courtyard, with thick stone walls to ensure it is cool and shady in the summer and cosy in the winter. On the ground floor is a large reception room, a dining room, a well equipped kitchen, a book room opening onto the courtyard and a small shower room. Upstairs there are 5 double bedrooms (two of which have twin beds) and a bathroom.

The landscape of the area is rich and varied and there are many opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking,swimming, tennis, riding, fishing, sailing, canoeing and boat trips on the river Baise.

This part of France has a fascinating history and there are many historical monuments to visit from the Roman villa at Sevillac to the stunning Bastide towns of the Gers and the many romanesque churches and monasteries. The historic cities of Bordeaux and Toulouse offer the visitor sophisticated shops and restaurants, while a little further afield lie the Atlantic coast, Biarritz, Lourdes and the Pyrenees.

This is the heart of gastronomic France and it is impossible not to be tempted by the stunning food markets and the locally produced Armagnac and foie gras.

This area also produces some of France's greatest wines and there are many vineyards, both large and small, worthy of a visit.

The house is comfortable and well-equipped; an i-pod docking station and a CD player are available should you wish to bring your own music, there is a DVD player and selection of films, a book room with a wide selection of books to suit all tastes, a well equipped kitchen, washing machine and tumble dryer. There are heaters in every room as well as a beautiful wood-burning stove in the book room for the winter months.

The prices quoted include electricity, linen and use of laundry facilities. Essential supplies such as bread, milk, tea and coffee will be available when you arrive and beds will be made up in readiness for you.

A week is from 4 p.m. on a Saturday to 10 a.m. the following Saturday, unless by prior arrangement.

A £40 non-refundable deposit is payable when you book, with the balance payable not later than 5 weeks before the start of your booking.

In the event of a late cancellation, fees can only be refunded if we are able to re-let the property during that time.

We make no additional charge for cleaning at the end of your stay; however, we do ask for a £150 deposit to cover the cost of any damage to the property. This will be returned to you within a fortnight of the end of your stay (subject to a satisfactory inspection of the property).

NOTE: Pricing reflects the fact that this is a 5-bedroom property which sleeps 8-10 people. Discounts may be available for small groups; please contact the owner to discuss.
