Vacation Rental Description
Our three beautiful, well-equipped gites are set in 12 acres of idyllic countryside in Lot-et-Garonne, South West France. In the grounds is a 10.5m x 5.5m pool with toddler pool and waterfall.
Our gites have all been thoughtfully restored to leave many original features including spectacular beams and exposed stonework. All gites have recently-fitted oak kitchens with dishwasher, oven and hob, washing machine, microwave, and large fridge/freezer, and all have their own private terrace with barbecue. For entertainment, there is a supply of family games in each gite and all have satellitte TV with BBC channels and dvd player.
Levant Sleeps 4 - One double, one twin, one shower/wc
Couchant Sleeps 6 - One double, two twin, one bath/shower/wc, one shower/wc
Grand Soleil Sleeps 6 (7) - One double, one twin, one triple. One bath/shower/wc, one shower/wc
Guests are free to roam the property. A maintained track leads down past a natural spring and pond into the large field, bordered by a stream. In early summer this field is a mass of wild flowers, including several varieties of orchids.
The region is full of historical interest and was much fought over by the English and the French during the 100 Years War. There are numerous bastide villages to explore, along with colourful markets selling the wonderful local fruit and vegetables.
Golf and horse riding are close by, and there are several leisure lakes with 'beaches', eg Montaigu du Quercy where there are flumes, pedaloes and a bar/restaurant next to the sandy beach. Parc Walibi theme park in Agen makes a great day out for all the family (height restrictions for young children), and also Parc en Ciel adventure park set in woodland close to Fumel, Les Paillottes water park near Valence d'Agen and the new water park in Nerac. There are numerous water sports on the Lot and Dordogne rivers or if you would rather watch than participate there are boats for hire in Villeneuve-sur-Lot and Moissac, or canal/river trips from Agen or Nerac. There is even a go-kart track near Agen, or for the occasional cooler day there is ten pin bowling.
Close to home and the beautiful villages of Penne d'Agengais, Pujols, Lauzerte and Montjoi, or longer trips out could include the wonderful scenery of the Lot and Dordogne valleys, Cahors and and the beautiful village of St Cirq Lapopie, or the larger cities of Toulouse and Bordeaux.
We are close to the wine growing areas of Buzet, Duras and Cahors, and for food lovers this area is a must! Magret and confit of duck, foie gras, melons, plums and soft fruit are all produced locally. Agen is famous for its prunes, and if your only memory of prunes is from school dinners, wait until you try prunes in Armagnac. You will never think of them in the same way again!
Restaurants vary from basic regional cooking to haute cuisine, and prices from 10 euros for a three course lunch to the somewhat more expensive (!) 3 star Trama restaurant (formerly l'Aubergade) in nearby Puymirol.
Our closest airports are Toulouse (1 1/4 hours away) and Bergerac (1 1/2 hrs) and both Bordeaux and Carcassonne are only 2 hours away. We are 585 miles from Calais and 450 miles from Caen by road.
We guarantee you will receive a warm welcome at Faysselle. Many of our guests return time and again and one couple loved it so much they asked if we could organise their wedding here! We have lived here for ten years and like to feel that are visitors return not as 'guests' but as 'friends'.

Couchant is an unusual 'upside down' gite. Two of the bedrooms are on the ground floor and stay delightfully cool during our hot summers.
Entrance into the large hallway is from a covered terrace (which can be used for outside dining, even if it should rain!). There are two bedrooms - one double and one twin - and also a bath/shower/wc and a further shower/wc. A staircase leads up to the third bedroom (a twin) which is much loved by children for its 'hideaway' feel, yet it is still within earshot of parents!
An open plan staircase leads to the large, airy living area dominated by spectacular beams leading into the high roofspace. There are comfy sofas, satellite tv/dvd and a wood-burning insert fire for chillier spring or autumn evenings. Dining table for eight, enjoying views across fields. Well equipped new oak kitchen.
Three steps down from living area lead to shady outdoor terrace with BBQ, and front garden.
