Not far from Les Eyzies and Sarlat, where the Dordogne river makes a dramatic loop, “Les Volets Bleus” is a very private, beautifully-restored 300 year old Perigordian stone farmhouse that sits on 2 acres of lawned garden, with magnificent views of the surrounding countryside. With its characteristic blue shutters, this spacious retreat is elegantly furnished with French country antiques, and is situated among fig, peach and walnut trees, with three outstanding verandahs – two that overlook the large, magnificent pool that receives day-long sunshine. “Les Volets Bleus” offers quality and seclusion for a familiy or a group of friends wanting to holiday together. With a total 6 bedrooms (3 double/queen bedrooms and 1 single/twin in the Famhouse, and 1 double/queen and 1 single/twin in the Barn), the 300 year old farmhouse offers a total country getaway in the heart of the Dordogne. “Les Volets Bleus” offers a unique retreat from the business of day-to-day life, while still offering you the comfort of modern conveniences, all set in an atmosphere of charm and stylish elegance. The property was recently completely renovated to an exceptionally high standard with all new furniture, beds, linens, appliances, modern bathrooms, and filled with antiques. All this was done with a careful eye to modern comforts, while staying true to the charm and history of the area. Inside the Farmhouse and Barn both offer dishwashers, microwaves, coffee-makers, hair dryers, TV with DVD player, and a washer and dryer. For enjoying the outdoors, there are many sunbeds, outdoor tables, garden furniture and 2 barbecues to enjoy the warm summer evenings. The 11m X 5 m flood-lit pool sits in a large grassy area, securely fenced to EU standards, with plenty of lounging chairs and umbrellas available.
So find yourself a place in heaven, or rent it for a week at least, and enjoy long lunches out under the wysteria, or late-evening barbecues overlooking the pool. A delightful 20 minute walk (or 3 minute drive) takes you into the timeless village of Trémolat with its well-known Relais & Chateaux hotel with Michelin-starred restaurant, historic Romanesque church and casual bistrots. Or, better yet, take a wander to the next-door farm which offers a wonderful, local meal at the area’s best “auberge” (rated #1 in Tremolat by tripadvisor.com), "Les Truffieres".
A little further afield, the nearby towns of Lalinde and Le Bugue have all other essential services. 'Les Volets Bleus' sits in the Perigord Noir within easy reach of the famous caves & paleolithic history of Les Eyzies, Le Bugue, a lively local market town, Limeuil, where the Vezére and Dordogne meet, Sarlat, with its medieval streets and famous market, and Bergerac, famous for foie gras, wines and ancient architecture. Périgueux has fabulous shopping, while St Emilion offers the perfect excursion to a quintessential Bordeaux wine-country town (an hour away). This region is rich in historic sites including the Lascaux Caves, and Bastide towns such as Beaumont and Monpazier, along the spectacular Dordogne. Many magnificent châteaux are within easy drive, as well as countless restaurants serving classic Perigordian cuisine.
We also offer a very personal "a la carte" service which includes baby-sitting, chef-prepared meals for you at home, bicycle rental, shopping prior to you arrival, wine-tastings and historical excursions, and anything else you'd like to add to make your holiday more relaxing.

The washer and dryer are available to you free of charge. There is also an option of babysitting, chef-prepared meals in your home, bicycle rental, hikes & walks lead by a local, private wine-tastings, shopping prior to your arrival, restaurant reservations prior to your arrival.

Payments accepted in British Pounds, US dollars and Euros (based on exchange rate in Euros when payment is made) by cheque or direct deposit. We require 25% deposit on a 2 week rental and 30% deposit on a 1 week rental for confirmation.
