The property, which is set in 34 acres of woodland and flower meadows is reached by a winding private country lane to where it nestles just below the nap of the hill. Originally built for the procurer of Louis XIV it has been sensitively restored to provide a high standard of comfort while retaining the charm and quirky character of the period. The gites will appeal to those seeking the calm and tranquility of the countryside but convenient to the many attractions of the Dordogne. Both gites are fully centrally heated for warm cosy out of season holidays.
Details of Petite Maison de la Grange
This charming dwelling (sleeps 2)is a conversion of one end of an old tobacco drying barn. There is a spacious lounge area,comfortably furnished , with English/French TV,DVD,CD & radio. The attractive dining area is a good size and has seating for 4 people. There is a fully equipped kitchen with fridge/freezer,dishwasher,washing machine,full cooker,microwave etc.(a welcome pack with a few essental provisions and a nice bottle of Bergerac wine is provided) The bedroom is spacious with kingsize bed and has a luxury en suite bathroom. Both the lounge and bedroom have french doors opening onto a pretty terrace with wonderful views across the valley, perfect for outside living and those romantic dinners. The gite has a pretty private garden for sunbathing but with mature trees for those who prefer shade. There is a lovely area for picnicking in the old orchard. There is private parking.

The property is ideally situated for walking or cycling in the unspoilt countryside.The pretty village of St Pompon is within walking distance and here you can find all essential provisions as well as bars and restaurants.The medieval village of Daglan with its gourmet restaurant is within 5km.The romantic villages of Beynac and La Roque Gageac are within easy reach as is the Bastide village of Domme with its wonderful views over the Dordogne. The Historic town of Sarlat with countless restaurants and colourful street markets is just a ride away.For those wishing retail therapy the cities of Bergerac,Perigueux,Brive and Cahors are all within driving distance.The area is steeped in history with many delightful towns and villages as well as the world famous prehistory cave settlements at Le Eyzies and Lascaux.The whole area is rich in arts and crafts with many galleries and studios.And then,of course,there is the marvelous river.Glorious!
