The famous chateau of Beynac is three miles away, Castelnaud two more; Les Milandes, the home of Josephine Baker between the Wars and afterwards, is opposite (as the crow flies). The prehistoric sites of Les Eyzies are a twenty minute drive, as is Sarlat, a jewel of a town. Festivals of music and theatre abound and the choice of tempting markets is enormous.
You are spoilt for choice to eat out, from Michelin-stared restaurants (save up firstly) to bistro costing less than £11 for a three-course meal with wine. One of these is attached to a great hotel/resturant in the area and does weekday lunches at £10 for three-courses.
