The location of La Gourdonnie is ideal for exploring the Dordogne and Lot with numerous river beaches a short drive away. In the adjoining villages of Cazals, St Pompom, Salviac and Gourdon there area wide selection of bars, restaurants and markets. The Friday market in Prayssac is a firm favourite with visitors. The Medieval town of Sarlat is 20 min away by car and is well worth a visit. There are a wide variety of trips which can be made using the house as a base. Perhaps the most widely known are the prehistoric sites and cave systems which are dotted throughout the area. Lascaux, Peche Merle and the Roc St Christophe are amongst spectacular. The bastide towns at Monpazier, Beaumont are also well worth a visit. Cenac, Vitrac and Soleil Plage all have beaches where river fishing can be arranged.
