Vacation Rental Description
Les Taloches is paradise for children of all ages with 19 acres of wood and meadow to explore, yet within walking distance of the pretty riverside village of Tourtoirac with shops and a bar-restaurant. In an unspoilt area of the Dordogne, it is close to the fairytale château of Hautefort.
Gracing two sides of a large, lime-tree shaded courtyard are two luxury properties: LA CHATAIGNE - an oak-beamed farmhouse, and LA GRANGE - a huge stone barn that has been transformed into a superb house. Both are self-contained for privacy - each one has its own large private pool, secluded garden and separate drive.
Also on site, for the energetic, there is an adventure play area, badminton, table tennis, a games room and bikes, but the lovely location is ideally rural for those who just want to relax in the sunshine.
LA CHATAIGNE - A picturesque old house with beams, exposed stonework and open fires. It is a large house with plenty of comfortable living space for large parties and all the mod cons for a comfortable holiday. The enormous kitchen has additional dining space and opens on to a big south-facing terrace overlooking the private pool and lovely countryside. The terrace has lighting for the night, a barbecue and a vine covered shady area.
La Chataigne is a perfect location for a relaxing sun downer. The terrace can be made secure for small children and of course the pool has secure safety fencing. Three of the five bedrooms are ensuite and some are heavily beamed - mind your head! We welcome children and provide equipment for babies and toddlers and plenty of games and activities for older children
LA GRANGE - A breath-taking living room with huge fireplace, a mezzanine lounge area for the TV or card games, a gallery library, a large farmhouse kitchen, antique furniture and a fourposter bed all create a very special atmosphere in this fabulous barn conversion.
There are beams galore and two of the bedrooms have their own secluded terraces as a quiet retreat. The large terrace, with its barbecue, overlooks the fenced pool and is well lit for those balmy evenings outside. The two double bedrooms are en suite, while the two twin bedrooms share a bathroom.
At Les Taloches apart from the woods and fields, there is a games room in the second barn, table tennis, badminton, a boules pitch, a sandpit, a substantial adventure playground, a playhouse and bicycles of varying sizes to borrow. Nearby are canoeing, tennis, fishing, horse-riding, the possibility of rock-climbing or caving and within half and hour, a lake for windsurfing, wake boarding or just using the nice beach. On our doorstep are miles of tracks for walking or riding.
We are also within easy reach of both the hundreds of castles, caves, pre-historic sites like those at Lascaux and Les Eyzies, lakes with watersports, themed parks, medieval towns like Brantome and Sarlat and lively markets. There are lots of excellent restaurants nearby to sample the gastronomic delights of this region - duck, foie gras, truffles. However, we also have a lovely beamed 'summer kitchen' shaded by a lime tree, where we offer occasional evening meals (no baby-sitting or driving worries!).
