Vacation Rental Description
Chapeau is a spacious and comfortable family home suitable for a group of up to 14 people + cots. The house is about 6km from the famous Renaissance château at Hautefort and is ideally located for those wishing to explore the Dordogne region and its historical chateaux, world heritage caves and cave dwellings. The local cuisine and fine wines of the region are revered all over the world, and the beautiful countryside is punctuated by many rivers which can be navigated by canoe or kayak.
Chapeau is suitable for hosting groups of friends or for families sharing, with plenty of places to spread out and have your own space when you need it. The house is a five-minute walk from an attractive village which has a boulangerie, two bar-restaurants, a general store, a post office and a tennis court. Set on a hillside with spectacular views, the property is very private and the surroundings extremely peaceful - one could almost forget that the outside world exists. Chapeau has many original features, including stone walls,exposed oak beams and wooden floors. Comfortably furnished and exceptionally well equipped, its large windows and high ceilings make the house very light and airy.
The property sits in five acres of private and secluded grounds with centenary trees, mature gardens, terraces, and overlooking its own private fishing lake. The landscaped pool area is a haven of relaxation.

Facilities
There is ample garden furniture,various terraces with dining facilities,barbecues etc,chaises longues,cushions and parasols. The kitchen is equipped for large parties and there is heating and ventilation available depending on the weather. There is a large multimedia and reading library for your enjoyment and cable tv, wifi and telephone to keep in touch with the outside world. Linen and towels are included in the rental price and pool towels can be provided if necessary. Babysitting and outside catering facilities are also available. An eighth bedroom is available in an annexe, please enquire for details.
Activities
We have bicycles for use free of charge on the myriad of country lanes and tracks, and there are fishing rods for use in the lake. There are several golf courses in the local area including a brand new course 15 minutes away. Canoes and kayaks are available for hire at various locations in the vicinity of Chapeau and there are equestrian stables for trecking and ponyrides also. Take to the trees on aerial walkways and zipwires or go underground and explore the finest caves in Europe such as the World heritage Unesco site of Lascaux and the newly opened caves of Tourtoirac 10 mins drive away.
There is a tennis court in the local village and crazy golf nearby too.

The Manor house is ideally situated just outside a village with amenities and yet is very rural and peaceful, a haven of relaxation.It is not far from the small market town of Hautefort with supemarket,pharmacy,doctor,dentist and tourist office.There are many restaurants in the vicinity and the location is ideal for exploring the caves,villages and chateaux of the Dordogne as well as visiting the mediaeval towns of Sarlat, and Perigueux.
