Vacation Rental Description
17th Century Stone Farmhouse and Cottage, perfect for one or two-family holidays in truly relaxing countryside with one of the biggest pools in Dordogne. Just a five minute walk from Excideuil with its traditional bakers, restaurants, ancient streets, castle and colourful market. Just outside the main tourist area, so no traffic jams or crowds in the shops and a peaceful retreat. The Farmhouse forms one side of a vast courtyard with the owner's manor house and barns making the other two sides. Each house has its own private gardens and easy access to the pool.Available together or separately, the Farmhouse and Cottage each have three large bedrooms and cool sitting rooms. The farmhouse also has an annexe bedroom (extra). Park like gardens and magnificent 15m swimming pool. Lounge here all day in the sun, or be busy visiting all the historic sights nearby, such as Lascaux caves, Jumilhac and Hautefort chateaux, picturesque Brantome and fascinating Perigueux with its evening jazz concerts. For the more active there is a large lake with beach and boats and wakeboarding, or quad biking and paintball nearby, not to mention dungeons and war machines to see at Beynac and Castelnaud chateaux. Lots of activities for all the family!
Facilities
The Farmhouse & Cottage are ideally placed for exploring Dordogne. Excideuil with its X1th century fortress is a charming old market town with a host of 16th and 17th century buildings. Each house has three double bedrooms with parquet floors, simple rustic decoration and furniture. Extra children's beds available. Farmhouse annexe bedroom (extra)for 2. Bathroom with bath, shower, wash basin, shaver point, wc and washing machine, Internet. Fully equipped kitchen, with dishwasher(Farmhouse only), microwave oven, gas cooker, fridge freezer, kettle, coffee machine, toaster, ironing board, iron and all usual equipment. Vast lawns and 20 acres gardens and woods to roam. Swimming pool 15 x 7m in its own hedged garden with poolside furniture and stone BarBQ. Play Boules in the courtyard while enjoying that evening drink! Mountain bikes for hire. Badminton, Net ball and space for cricket. Large cool barn for table-tennis - 2 tables.

Rouffiac lake has beach and water sports including cable water sking and wakeboarding. Tree walking, paintball and quad bikes are new additions to the things to do list.
Frequent trains from Thiviers to Bordeaux and Limoges.

Tabary is in a sunny country setting 500m from Excideuil. Lovely walks straight from our doorstep into really beautiful countryside of rolling hills and valleys with fabulous views.The Perigord is famous for its beautiful countryside, walking, cycling and horse riding, pretty villages, hundreds of châteaux, prehistoric caves and good food. In easy reach of Tabary are many historic towns like Sarlat, Domme, Brantome, Perigueux, and some of the prettiest villages in France. Pompadour with its horse races and national stables are also nearby, so there is always lots to see! Golf five minutes drive. Adventure park and quad bikes are new additions to the list, and the local fetes are always value entertainment.
Excideuil itself is a quaint market town with winding lanes, many historic buildings and a popular weekly market. Tourism is low key but well provided for with a multitude of local activities, events and sights. The department capital Perigueux is a fascinating cathedral city with large pedestrianised area in mediaeval streets, offering music (free jazz concerts in summer), mime, gastronomic book fair and many other events and entertainments. The whole area is becoming known as the unspoilt part of Dordogne, appreciated by people from many nations for its good food, lovely countryside and welcoming inhabitants.

lovely quiet location on large site but only 650 meters from supermarket and loads to do within 30 min drive. clean property with good layout and facilities, lovely walking and cycling routes immediately adjacent. We were a family of 2 adults and 3 older children and really enjoyed our stay here. The swimming pool is very large and the diving board was a great hit. There are also ping-pong tables and bikes available for use. Richard and Luisa helpfull with hints and tips. would recommend caves at Tourtoirac (15 mins drive), lake at Rouffiac (20 mins) for kneeboarding, wakeboarding etc, Perigueux (30 mins) for beautiful old town, Gallo-Roman museum and shopping, Carnac (10 mins) for canoeing on the Isle and velorail. Had a great break here and lots of thanks to Richard and Luisa.

We had a lovely holiday and are returning in 2011. The house was superb, the huge pool a real treat with a 7 year old, and our dog loved it as well. The grounds are spacious with lovely views. Richard and Luisa were excellent hosts, around and friendly but never 'in the way' of our family holiday. We're already looking forward to another three weeks here next summer!

Hi! We came here in 1992 with all the family and have been running our two holiday houses ever since. We love meeting our guests and making sure you all have as good a time as is possible - which is easy in this glorious part of France. Our children are now all adult but they all come back here for holidays.
We live here permanently and are always available for help or advice or translations and we can even help you find a house to buy as we both work with our local estate agent. However we are never "in your hair" and guarantee you a private holiday in our wonderful Domaine.
