Our Dove's Nest vacation house (Le Colombier in French) is an outstanding holiday home. It is without any doubt one of the most beautiful, charming and comfortable places available in Alsace. This holiday gite (as we say in France) is located in Riquewihr, one of the prettiest villages in France!
Our Dove's Nest vacation house is a romantic house offering ideal and luxury self catering accommodation for 4 persons with great value for money (2 couples in 2 double rooms).
A large romantic and elegant living space spreads over the first floor: lounge, kitchen and Alsatian 'stub' (dining room).
The Dove's Nest caries an official 4 star rating. This is an official statement published by the French Tourist authority (Arrêté préfectoral 2008-134-8 du 13 mai 2008).
Our romantic medieval house is listed as a national heritage building (Monument Historique). Therefore it was not possible to build any terrace or balcony. The house is part of the medieval rampart (built 1500) of Riquewihr, only some yards away of the famous fortified gates of the Obertor and the Dolder. On the mountainside, the medieval city wall is the western wall of our house. On the street side, it is an Alsatian traditional timber framed house.
Our vacation house is decorated with great care and especially equipped for 2 couples. Riquewihr is one of the prettiest villages in France, located on the Alsace wine route, on the foothills of the Vosges mountains and only a few minutes away from the city of Colmar.
Our vacation house is a romantic house with 2 double rooms (each double bed 160 x 200 centimeters) and private bathroom en suite for each room).
Living space spreads over the first floor with living room, kitchen, Alsatian “stub” (the part where the meals are taken). The house is newly renovated. The restoration largely made use of the traditional techniques with organic and healthy materials (no dangerous chemicals, natural paintings with lime wash…).
Authentic polychrome antique furniture and fabrics in Alsatian kelsch turn this small house into a real gem. The house combines charm and comfort and is able to satisfy - Summer as Winter - guests who appreciate and privilege before all the refined and authentic places…
The fully equipped kitchen is open towards the “stub” (Alsatian traditional wood paneled dining room) and gives total autonomy. But do not forget that the many ones and excellent restaurants in the village (some of them being listed in the Michelin Red Guide) - with excellent value for money - are within walking distance.

WINE TASTING & FINE CUISINE on ALSACE WINE ROUTE
The Alsace Wine Route has become famous the world over for its exceptional natural beauty, its simple course and for the instant connection its visitors feel with the region and its growers. The Alsace Wine Route winds its way from north to south, for more than 170 kilometres (106 miles) along the eastern foothills of the Vosges.
Alsace enjoys some of the lowest rainfall in France (just 400-500mm or 16-20 inches per year) and Riquewihr is right in the middle of the driest area.
Riquewihr is in the very heart of the Alsace vineyards, a major milestone on the Alsace wine route.
Many excellent restaurants are located in the village itself within walking distance (some of them being listed in the Michelin Red Guide) - with excellent value for money.

Riquewihr is the jewel in the Alsatian crown - famous for the Riesling and other great Alsace wines produced here - and looks today exactly as it did in the 16th Century. Riquewihr is a wonderful and romantic little medieval city hidden between the Vosges mountains and some of the most famous vineyards in Alsace. Although in a very preserved area, Riquewihr is only 7 miles from Colmar and minutes from other famous alsatian villages like Ribeauvillé, Hunawihr, Eguisheim or Kaysersberg.
Simply walk out of your holiday apartment and go for beautiful walks in the forest and mountain or through some of the most famous vineyards in Alsace, the choice is yours!
