You have been to Prague and enjoyed your visit! May be you love the classical Czech composers Bedrich Smetana, Antonin Dvorak, Leos Janacek - who based their music and operas on the history and beauty of the Bohemian countryside and the lives of Czech people.

So here is your chance to visit a new region! The town of JABLONEC NAD NISOU (on the river NISA) lies in the NORTH BOHEMIA, some 100 kms north of Prague, 1.5 hrs drive, with an excellent E-Road all the way there.

ACCOMMODATION:
A romantic and cosy studio apartment on the 1st floor for two people. It is furnished with English classic furniture with a new, well-equipped kitchen. There is a modern shower room with WC on the landing.

The apartment is located in our family house, called The Pink Street House (named after the road RUZOVA / PINK). It was built by a German glass manufacturer, Herr Konrad Weberlich, in 1897. Although we have renovated it, we have kept all the original features intact. It stands in an area of similar architectually interesting, German-built houses from the end of 19th and the beginning of 20th Century.

We have a lovely Alpine garden and a lawn, with a traditional hand water pump. The garden is dominated by a tall, old pear tree, which wan a Special Interest Award in the Jablonec Town Hall Trees competition in 2006. The studio apartment has magnificent views of the town, mountains and pine forests, wonderful any time of the year. The summers are often hot and the winters cold, with snow and frost.
LOCATION;
Town: JABLONEC NAD NISOU (GABLONZ an der Neisse), 100km north of Prague.
REGION: 13 km (25 minutes train or tram drive) from the regional University town of LIBEREC (Reichenberg, the birth-place of the car designer Herr Porsche)- NORTH BOHEMIA.

AREA NOTES:
Surrounded by pine woods and the JIZERA mountains (Jizera is a river).
A regular train goes to Liberec and to the mountain resorts. The railway stop is a few minutes walk from the house.

SKIING AND HIKING CENTRES - within half an hour's drive you will reach the JIZERA Mountains and within an hour’s drive the GIANT Mountains excellent skiing resorts.

The house is situated 10 minutes walk from the pine woods and 20 minutes walk from town centre. The town of JABLONEC NAD NISOU sits in a valley, surrounded by mountains and lakes. It has been the centre of glass, costume jewellery, chandaliers, buttons and Christmas decorations industry for at least two centuries.

The Jablonec Town Hall Information Centre is excellent and the staff speak very good English and other languages. They will provide you with a lot of tourist information leaflets and advice, all free of charge.

RESTAURANTS - plenty of restaurants, from Pizzerias to elegant restaurants, and mountain resort Tower restaurants - most have menus in English.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT - very good, buses, tram and train to Liberec and to the mountain regions.

CENTRAL BUS STATION - 20 minutes walk from the house. Buses to and from Prague several times a day - journey takes 1.5 - 2 hrs.

TOWN TAXI SERVICE - efficient, telephone contact will provided - unlike in Prague, the Jablonec taxi prices are still reasonable.

RENT-A-CAR and TAXI COLLECTION FROM PRAGUE /or AIRPORT - best option - we can recommend an excellent private local firm for all your needs. They will collect you from / or drive you to the Prague Airport or your hotel. They will loan you a car in an excellent condition, at competitive rates, cheaper than from Prague.

There are several beautiful castles within a short driving distance of Jablonec (information will be provided).

Jablonec is surrounded by mountain resorts and centres which have Observation Tower restaurants and Ski lodges. In the winter they offer excellent skiing facilities and ski schools.

Jablonec - Museum of Glass and Costume Jewellery, Town Hall, Churches, the whole town is a mixture of architectually interesting buildings. These have been or are being renovated at a rapid speed and often with the help of EU funding.

Liberec - Regional Museum, Shopping centre Babylon, ZOO, Botanical Gardens, Jested mountain which can accessed by a cable car.

BOOKING CONDITIONS:
For Euros bank transfer please add 5% extra to the total price.

BOOKING DEPOSIT: 50% Booking deposit immediately, balance 8 weeks before your holiday.

For holidays less than 8 weeks away, the full rent is due in full.

REFUNDABLE DAMAGE DEPOSIT:
100 - 200 Gbp - Subject to the Supervisor's satisfactory report - returned after the holiday by the Supervisor or within two weeks after your holiday.

WINTER RATES:
Higher due to the cost of heating. Only reasonable usage will be included. The storage heaters are economic and need turning down as the apartment gets warm quickly.
The electricity will be read by the Supervisor at the beginning of you stay and again after your departure. Any excessive usage of electricity will be deducted from your deposit.

PLEASE USE ELECTRICITY WISELY, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE OUT. SWITCH OFF LIGHTS AND TURN DOWN HEATERS BOTH IN THE APARTMENT AND IN THE BATHROOM.
