Vacation Rental Description
The apartment is in the village of Prodromi, half a mile from both the bustling Cypriot town of Polis and the equally busy fishing village and marina of Latchi. This area is the prettiest, quietest and least developed in Cyprus. Akamas Gardens is an attractive small complex of apartments, maisonettes and villas, maybe 30 in total. The larger than average communal pool just happens to be two steps from the entrance to our garden! The apartment is ground floor with one bedroom, but sleeps 4 as there is a sofa bed in the lounge. It has a good sized patio area to both front and rear, plus a large gravelled garden all around, and has the benefit of the sun all day. As the apartment is our second home, we have made it as comfortable as possible. There is a large combined living room and kitchen. The living room has a dining table with four chairs and a large sofa bed. There is a television and DVD player. The kitchen has plenty of cupboard space, a built in cooker with ceramic hob and hood, microwave oven, toaster, kettle and fridge freezer. In a separate utility section there is a washing machine with more workspace and a cupboard. The bedroom has a double bed, bedside cabinets, wall mirror and large built in wardrobes with drawers. The bathroom is fully tiled with washbasin and bath with shower over.
The apartment also has an iron, ironing board and outside clothes drier. There is an outdoor table with four chairs and two sun loungers with padded cushions. The apartment is fully air-conditioned, and these act as heaters in the winter. Hot water is supplied by solar panels on the roof, but can be boosted by an immersion in winter months.
Everywhere in Cyprus you are spoilt for choice with restaurants and tavernas. There are numerous charming places in the old town of Polis, especially around the town square. Latchi also has plenty of waterside restaurants, often specialising in sea foods. Prices are in the main reasonable and you are always made very welcome. Greek speciality meals are wonderful! The closest taverna is a five minute walk away. 200 yards further on is a chinese restaurant. Within a ten minute walk are another taverna and a pizza cafe. Both these and the chinese do take-aways. There is a suggestion book in the apartment with all sorts of ideas for eating out.
Also a ten miute walk away you will find a bakery, fruit and veg shop (all locally grown and tasting superb!), and a very cheap off-licence. Five minutes further there is a Co-op supermarket. On into Polis and there are all sorts of shops and a big supermarket.
Both Polis and Latchi have lovely beaches with sunbeds and lifeguards. These are about a 20 minute walk away, approximately half a mile. The sea of course is wonderfully warm. The beaches are always quiet, with a mixture of sand and pebbles. For pure sandy beaches head through the mountains to Coral Bay. This is a 30 minute drive with stunning views from the mountains down into Coral Bay and Paphos. The bustling beaches at Coral Bay have pure sand, restaurants, and all sorts of watersports. There are beaches everywhere if you take the time to explore. Again the suggestion book in the apartment has more ideas.
There are all sorts of places to see close by. The mountain villages of Droushia and Kathikas are within about eight miles and are very welcoming with tavernas, vineyards for wine tasting, and restaurants. Head for these if the weather is hot, as the mountains are up to 5 degrees cooler! Or drive up the coast to Pomos past empty beaches, and then up into the mountains as far as the Turkish border. Again the views are stunning, but watch out for the hairpin bends and the goats.
There are monasteries to visit in the low Troodos Mountains, and the High Troodos are famous for their scenery. Cyprus is full of history and there are famous arcaelogical sites to see in Paphos.
Facilities
The apartment is prepared for guests by an English lady who lives permanently opposite. She will also buy a welcome pack of assorted groceries for you if required, you re-imburse her when you arrive. On departure the apartment is cleaned and the bedding, towels etc. laundered. For this, guests pay her 45 euros during their stay. There is therefore no need to bring linen or towels for your stay.
Activities
Latchi has all sorts of water sports, such as water-skiing, jet skis, diving, fishing, wind-surfing or you can charter a boat. Bikes motorbikes and quads can be hired in Polis. There are several excellent golf courses near Paphos. Some, such as the Aphrodite Hills, have stunning views.
The Akamas, 3 miles away from the apartment, is a wild conservation area, great for hiking or just walking, or see it from the sea - there are boat trips from Latchi.
In the winter you can ski and snow board in the Troodos Mountains, an hour drive away. In the summer just go up there to cool down and admire the scenery!
Other things close-by to see include Aphrodite's Baths (2 miles away), the Tombs of the Kings in Paphos, Aphrodite's Rock and the little village of Pissouri clinging to the cliffs (both east of Paphos).
There are small night clubs in Polis and Latchi, or go to Paphos. Or, Ayia Napa is just 2 hours drive!

Just a £30 deposit is required to reserve the apartment, but this is non-refundable. The balance is due one calendar month before the letting. Payment can be made by cheque or Paypal. Our charges have been reduced because in addition there is a charge of 45 euros to be paid to our lady "on site". Sharon airs and cleans the apartment before you arrive, turns on the fridge and makes up the bed. While you are there she will sort out any problems or queries you may have and give advice on all things Cypriot. After you leave she will clean the apartment and do the laundry. The 45 euros is a one off payment per holiday. Please contact us for rates for periods longer than two weeks.
