The Akamas peninsula is a rugged area of natural beauty with bizarre rock formations crafted by centuries of wind and sand. It also has Lara Beach, one of the last breeding areas of the great Green Turtle. The Akamas is a nature reserve and has many more interesting animals and birds. In spring and autumn, migrant birds pass through the island and the Akamas peninsula is known for great views of Eagles and many other birds of prey.

The Troodos mountains which rise steeply in the centre of the island are a breathtaking site and one should not leave without venturing up the winding, steep roads. The climate here can be in stark contrast to the hot, sunny beaches not far away. The cool, lush valleys with shaded forests offer a welcome break when the weather gets a little to warm

Location is the key to this complex, within walking distance of the old town and its many curiosities, an abundance of bars and restaurants and a short distance from the sea means that a car is not essential but is advisable.

Paphos area contains many fascinating archaeological sites including the UNESCO world heritage site , The Tomb of The Kings. With ancient Byzantine churches and beautiful mosaics, Roman ruins and much more, this must be pencilled in for a visit but best to go early to avoid the crowds and the heat of the day.
