Vacation Rental Description
This is a spacious apartment of 100m2, with large terraces and balconies complete with a built-in barbecue and sea views, in a spectacular setting among Korcula's green hills between two beautiful bays.
The apartment, which is fully air-conditioned, consists of a separate kitchen/dining room with fully equipped kitchen with fridge/freezer and dishwasher, two double bedrooms (one en-suite) and one single bedroom with fold-down extra bed. All have wardrobes and bedside tables and lamps. There is also a spacious TV lounge with satellite channels, opening out on to the main terrace with view of the bay, complete with built-in barbecue and teak furniture with seating for six. There is a washing-machine, iron and ironing board. This is a ground-level apartment with ample parking and within 100 metres of a supermarket, 250 metres from two beautiful bays, and an easy walk from three good restaurants. If you like a feeling of space and convenience, this apartment is for you!
The town of Korcula, the birthplace of Marco Polo, is a beautiful fortified town and its facilities are easily reached by walking (20 minutes), biking (10 minutes) or bus. All types of boat or bus trips and tours around Korcula or to other islands are available, or you can hire boats, bikes, dune buggies, go diving and sailing - every whim is catered for. The owners can provide detailed routes with sketches for walking and mountain-biking, and all the information necessary to make your holiday a memorable one.
Korcula is situated in the province of Dalmatia, the sunniest part of the Mediterranean, and an area rich in history dating from its settlement by Greeks and later Romans. Subsequently governed by Venice, Napoleon and for a short time the British, it is now a vibrant town situated on the main coastal ferry route between Rijeka, Split and Dubrovnik, with direct links to Italy.
The apartment is located in Zrnovska Banja, which is 3kms (2 miles) from Korcula on a local bus route. There are two beautiful, sheltered bays with beaches just 250 metres away, and 3 restaurants within walking distance. Korcula Town is a smaller version of Dubrovnik, with many interesting honey-coloured stone buildings, lovely cobbled streets and alleyways, and intimate restaurants. Of course it is proud of its reputation as the birthplace of the great explore Marco Polo, and this is celebrated with the Marco Polo Fest in early September, re-enacting the 13th-century battle off Korcula against the Genoan fleet when he was captured. The weekly Moreska Sword Dance is also a popular attraction, along with the many open-air classical and modern musical events. Don't miss the local "Klapa" choirs in either the concerts or the spontaneous performances in the squares.
