Situated in a quiet, residential part of Bol, just five to 10 minutes' walk from the centre of the village, is Apartment Sarah. The famous and much-photographed Zlatni Rat (golden horn) beach is approximately 20 minutes' walk away. This is the ground floor apartment of an original old stone house built approximately 150 years ago. Renovation has been carried out by local craftsmen to extremely high specification. The apartment consists of an open-plan kitchen and living area supplemented by a modern shower room with wash basin and wc. There is a double bedroom and a double sofabed in the living area giving a capacity of four persons.

Bol is a quite unique location and probably one of the most desirable holiday destinations in Croatia. It is the home of the most famous - and most photographed - beach in Croatia: Zlatni Rat (Golden Horn). Bol is also the oldest settlement on the island of Brac. The central part of the village is built mainly of stone of local origin but there are more modern buildings on the outskirts of the village and modern hotels are discreetly hidden among the pine trees between the village and Zlatni Rat.
Bol is linked to the mainland (Split) by a once-a-day catamaran service which leaves Bol early in the morning (6.30 am) and returns at 5 pm (leaving Split at 4 pm). This is definitely the most convenient method of accessing Bol from the mainland, taking only one hour. Other methods are car ferry from Split-Supetar-Split (one hour) and then taxi (35 minutes) or local bus service(one hour). There is an airport just outside Bol with services from Zagreb and other European locations. Apparently, a private plane can be hired from Split Airport to Bol!

There are several local beaches in the village which are very picturesque and offer a very different atmosphere to the popular Zlatni Rat. Zlatni Rat can be accessed via a pine covered tiled walkway from the village (approximately 20 minutes stroll). In season there are frequent ferries from the village harbour to Zlatni Rat and a land train which runs to and from the seafront in the village to the beach.

The apartment is part of a high spec. newly-renovated traditional old stone house and from the terrace at the front of the apartment looks across the rooftops of the village to the sea and beyond to the neighbouring island of Hvar. Travel Info: There is a bus service from Split Airport to the harbour (30 kuna). Best way to Bol from Split harbour is the catamaran every day at 4pm - buy ticket as soon as possible as there is a limited number of seats. Alternatively take the car ferry to Supetar and traverse the island by bus (not recommended) or taxi (expensive, 350-400 kuna).

Season is split into three: low (03.10-29.05) 33 Euros for 2 people; 40 Euros for 3; and 45 Euros for 4, mid (30.05-10.07 and 22.08-02.10)45 , 50 and 60 Euros and high (11.07-21.08) 65, 77 and 88 Euros. 25% deposit (bank transfer or cheque) required to confirm booking with balance payable, in cash, on key collection.

Beautiful Bol!

We had been thinking about buying overseas property for some time. A friend said "don't make a decision until you have looked at Croatia and, in particular, Bol." We booked a week's package holiday in one of the hotels in Bol and immediately fell in love with the place! It is beautiful! We looked around at various different types of property but when we saw this old stone house we knew it was the one! We were recommended a local builder from one of the other villages on the island and he completely refurbished the house converting the ground floor into a self-contained apartment.
The house is set in a quiet residential part of Bol just five minutes walk from the heart of the village. The location is ideal being within walking distance of everything Bol has to offer, ie the village shops, bars and restaurants; the harbour; local beaches and the renowned Zlatni Rat beach (Golden Horn). Bol is quite different at various times of the year. If you want quiet try visiting in April or May - you should be able to find a beach to yourself and the sea, although cool, is ok for swimming. September is also quieter but is the local people's favourite month of the year because all the hustle and bustle of high season (July/August) has died down but the weather can still be fine and the sea warm! There are quite a few restaurants to try some of which only open for high season and a couple are open all year round. Our favourites are Taverna Riva which overlooks the sea and the Ranch which is at the back of the village up the hill - excellent for fish!
