Available for rent is a luxury one-bedroomed apartment which sleeps 4/5 at the stylish Knights Lodge complex in the modern ski resort of Bansko in Bulgaria, 150 kms from Sofia. Knights Lodge is in a prime location only 400 metres from the main gondola and only 200 metres from the start of the old town. There are many restaurants and shops within a short walking distance. Apart from being the best ski resort in eastern Europe, the mountains surrounding Bansko are a National Park and a listed Unesco World Heritage site.

The Knights Lodge complex has 55 apartments with a 24hr reception/security, sauna, jacuzzi and fitness room on site. It has its own bar and restaurant on the ground floor - the Irish Bar. There are further pool and spa facilities available at the many nearby 4 or 5 star hotels at minimal cost.


It is a short 8 minute walk to the main gondola and the start of the old town is only a 5 minute walk away. The apartment sleeps 4/5 - two in a double bed in the main bedroom, two in a large sofa bed in the living room and there is also an extra single sofa bed available.

The apartment is furnished to a high standard. There is a fully equipped kitchen and dining area. The bathroom has a toilet, handbasin and shower. There is a large balcony with access from the lounge area and the bedroom - and lovely views out over the Rila mountains. The apartment is on the third floor and there is a lift. Other apartments are available in the same complex for larger groups.

Skiing in Bansko

Bansko is the newest and the most rapidly developing ski resort in Bulgaria. 100 million Euros have been invested in Bansko to install a state of the art ski facility with equipment specifically designed for the Pirin slopes. A new 8-man gondola carries skiers and snowboarders from the ski centre outside the town to the beginners area and ski-school at 1600m in approximately 20 minutes.

There are 17 pistes, including a 16 km uninterrupted run from beneath the summit where you can ski down to the base station of the Gondola lift at the outskirts of town. The last 7 km of the slope is lit, and the entire facility is equipped with artificial snow machines to ensure a great skiing experience even in warmer conditions - Bansko is one of the only resorts in the world where this is possible. Bansko has the newest technology in hands free ski passes fitted with micro-chips readable through the pocket of a ski jacket.
The skiing conditions in Bansko are excellent with more than 50% of the slopes covered by snow cannon making sure there is always good snow cover. Bansko has the best snow record of all Bulgarian ski resorts. The ski season starts in the middle of December and carries on right through into April.

Bansko is ideal for beginners and there are many English speaking instructors at the ski schools. For intermediates the ski area is fantastic with fabulous views and many well-maintained wide tree-lined runs. The advanced skiier can try the Alberto Tomba black, and there is good off-piste available.

For Snowboarders there is a brand new dedicated snowboarders area with a half-pipe facility 90 metres high by 16 metres wide. Paragliding and heli-skiing is also available locally.

The facilities in Bansko will impress any skier who appreciates modern lifts, the latest in ski and snowboard equipment as well as low prices, especially when compared to the Alps.

Bansko Town

Bansko is a unique combination of a modern ski resort and an old town with cobbled streets and pretty old buildings. Apres-ski is centered around local 'Mehanas' – friendly taverna style restaurants serving traditional Bulgarian cuisine and drinks, often with roaring log fires and live entertainment.

Full payment (plus £100 property damage deposit) is required 8 weeks prior to start of rental period. Full payment for peak periods (Xmas/New Year) is required at time of booking. Please contact owner for a booking form. Non-smoking please For larger groups other apartments are available in the same complex - please contact me for details. If you want to arrange flights please contact me and I will hold the apartment for 48hrs to facilitate booking. You will collect the key on arrival at the reception. A manager will be available at the complex to help with any problems - ski hire/lessons/transfers/information etc.
